Would you really need to have faith in something you knew to be true?

Would you stand in a circle with friends holding hands saying "Gravity is real! We believe in Gravity. Whatever goes up, up, up - comes down, down, down.

Is faith a sign of insecurity?

I know God exists due to a personal experience I had. I need no faith.

That same experience taught me what faith is:

Faith is the ability to set aside reason and objection, and just DO IT! Afterward, you think and reason.

We use faith every day.

When we lift that leg in preparation for another step, we have faith that the other leg will perform according to pattern. We totally imbalance ourselves, tilting forward in what for any other object would be a damaging fall, in perfect faith that we will catch our fall with our other leg.

When that leg is held back by some force, we fall and are terribly surprised.

Faith is essential to doing almost everything in your life that you don't want to spend thought on.

Imagine thinking of every aspect of every movement of walking! You'd spend half your time crawling, and the other half frozen in place!

Come to think of it, that's what we do for quite some time... .

Every person is an island and has faith sufficient to themselves. If you have true faith you will not care if you are rewarded by God or not. Heaven is not a destination even though it is promised. But what may concern you most is that there is so much suffering among ones fellows. We are all roses and all roses have thorns. Ignorant people never look for true faith they accept it, often they will repeat lies about other faiths and sects, perhaps they are insecure. What really matters is we live a faith that cares for others more than we care for ourselves. If you care you cannot help yourself expressing your care, it should be in reasoned arguments and philosophical as their is no space here. If you saw a child was going to fall off a ladder would you not help. Unfortunately some people minds are like stones, they are best left alone. I could ramble on , but I won't.

What kind of logic is this? Because a person has arrived at the conclusion that there is a God, then they're insecure? Absurd. If a person refuses to accept that there is a power higher than themselves are they insecure? The two are not related.

Hebrews 11:1  Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

This is the definition of faith. I don't see insecurity in this verse.

GOD bless

no, i think that its just a matter of beliefs. but, i do think that extreme faith could definitely be a a sign of insecurity b/c its like surrounding yourself in this religious bubble so you don't have to really face the real world. i think it depends on the person and how much they are intouch with the outside world and reality.

Not in my case.
I've been on both sides.
I remember before I had faith I was uncertain, alone and often depressed.
Since faith became part of my live, I'm more confident and grounded.

I dont know about you but I dont go around droping things to make sure gravity is there. I have faith that it will keep me attatched to the floor.

Not necessarily.

I'm a confirmed atheist, and I think some intelligent people genuinely, honestly and wholeheartedly believe e.g. that Jesus was the son of God, that he was crucified and rose again, etc. However, I think that true believers are a definite minority, and that most self-styled believers want to believe more than they actually do. I think that's where most religious crimes come from - people who want to believe doing terrible things in the name of what they think their god wants them to do.
