You have a flawed concept of God, like most Christians, and how He works in our lives.
Evil and suffering is not a disproof of God, but a constant reminder of our need for the perfect God of the Bible (2 Cor 1:8-9).
God did not create a perfect world. The more perfect exists alongside the perfect. Nature has both constructive and destructive forces. Physical good will always be mixed with physical evil until creation reaches perfection. God created the world in a state of journeying so that we could be his co-creators in perfecting our world.
Suffering is a call to love one another. It is also our ticket to heaven. Much of the evil and suffering in our world is due to our failure to heed the commandment to love one another. Our love not only heals and nourishes those who suffer but also redeems us. Suffering then is a necessary part of life because without out it we would effectively be like spoiled children not truly loving God out of our own free will.
“We also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” – Romans 5,3-4
That is why God does not seem to interfere in our lives. He has a plan for to get us to heaven and he does not want to make changes in that plan unless something goes wrong. But we certainly can (and should) pray that this plan includes the special favors that we ask of Him. His plan takes into account all of the free-will choices that we make, including how much we pray and how diligently we try to follow His commands. By all means talk to God all the time about a happier life here on earth.

What problems? Everything in the universe is working just fine, except for those areas where humans have freely chosen to mess things up. God can't solve those problems without taking away our free will and changing us into mere animals.

He can solve problems.
But sometimes, we are so wrapped w/ our worldly surroundings that when he's calling out to us, we can't hear him and it's due this why we can't hear his words and why we feel that he doesn't care.
The truth is however is that he does care and he loves us all.
*For god so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but everlasting life. For god sent his son into to the world not to condemn the world; but that thru him the world might be saved.* John 3:16
I hope this helps you.

I used to be a teacher. I gave my students problems to solve. Was it because I couldn't solve them? No ... it was because they needed to learn how to solve problems for themselves. So it is with God.
*** in response to your additional details:
It sounds like your life is miserable. Not everything is solved quickly and easily. None of us asked to be born, or be subjected to many things we have to endure. But as one who has lived through things I wouldn't wish on anyone, I can now say that eventually things do get better. I don't mean to be trite, but it is true. People change. Circumstances change. We learn how to deal with things. If you ever need some helpful advice, feel free to email me, or find someone you can trust who has been through what you are going through now. ***

God can solve any problem. Some he chooses not to, after all we are the ones that create them.

He can. Ask him. If you are talking about the world's problems, they are mostly man made, why should God solve them?

He could if he wanted to. He can see the Big picture and we cannot. So if we want something fixed and pray and it doesn't happen, God has a reason.
