To be honest, I believe that alternative energy sources are the next boom business... In my part of the country however, ethanol plants were being built, but all of a sudden, the bottom fell out as the price of ethanol fell through the basement... You don't suppose the powerful oil people were responsible for manipulating the prices, huh ?? We should have had alternative energy sources on line years ago, but a few powerful people/companies are making sure we are dependant on them ( foreign oil ) so their profits are not compromised... I was so happy for our farmers, I had hoped this would finally reward them for all their hard work, dedication, and sacrifices over the years, and they deserve it... When we are wary, as Americans, of foreign influence, we should first be wary of our own countrymen... The biggest thieves are our neighbors... We are taking advantage of ourselves, instead of banding together.. Greed rules us now, and it sucks... When does an oil company finally get wealthy enough to say, "We are officially rich enough " ??? Good luck, my friend... In this day and age, it is get all you can while you can... Conscience and integrity are no longer required... Or even considered, for that matter...

Ethanol plants are quite interesting thngs, since not much is known about ethanol plants, such as whether it's a grass or a flower or a fruit. In fact, we don't how tall they grow or what seasons they grow best, or where to grow them. If you can find a career growing ethanol plants, I am positive that you'll be in much demand, and you'll be making way more than $15 an hour. You can be sure that you'll not only appear before the Energy Commission in Congress, but on Larry King show as well. And liquor brewers from the world over will seek licenses to grow ethanol plants, as it would eliminate any requirement for fermentation from biomass into alcoholic beverages. HIstory will remember this as the dawn of the Ethanol Plant Age. What are you waiting for? Spaghetti trees caused a revolution a while back, so don't miss this wave!

It's a great move. $15/hour is not great. Working at an ethanol plant is a low risk/high reward move. Ethanol is primed to be the next big alternative energy source. So if you work at an ethanol plant, and business picks up, you'll have good job security.
If ethanol fizzles out and plants start to close, you'll have job experience that can easily translate to other fields, such as petroleum, coal, and practically any other industrial plant type of jobs.
Go for it!

Short term, a good idea. Move up in salary and all that. But ethanol is a subject that seems to be knee deep in politicians. Corn growers and such are using their political power to push the idea. Seems like a safe middle ground for politicians. And, as Will Rogers said, "No man is safe when Congress is in session." Which means that your long term career is being jerked around by politics. I'd move now, but plan in retiring from something else.
