Because they have nothing eternal to live for, and they do not have the joy that only Jesus can bring.

Oh, Greg, isn't it about time that you quit pulling your pointless assumptions out of the air? There are over 14 million atheists in the USA alone. My bet is that some are sad, as some of the pious are sad, but most unbelievers see the world pretty much as I do: content, happy, busy as the dickens, and not at all troubled by nonexistent, invisible sky gods.

Ah yes, yet another fine example of Pious Fraud. That's basically 'lying for jesus' in layman's terms.
The FACT is, I'm not sad. Hardly ever. Sure it happens, it makes me sad when a school board rejects reality and decides to teach fairy-tales and mythology in a science class and calls it "intelligent design" but those times are few and far between.
I have a good home, two beautiful and intelligent children, a wife who is not only a knockout, but loves me too. Heck I could go on and on...
Suffice to say that you sir, are full of it.

Greg, it sounds like you don't get around much. Perhaps it might be a good idea to find some happier atheistic friends - they do exist you know.

Wow! Quite a statement. Unsupported, of course.
Guess again. Oh, wait, you're not guessing, you're projecting, assuming and making up stuff.

Wow, pretty big generalization there. I am perfectly happy. Not all the time, no one is happy all the time unless they have really good drugs.

Back to your generalizations I see. If it makes you happy knock your socks off; however, a number of people know that is a fallacy.
