i mean i see a ton of people bashing pits when they see a question about getting one. if u dont like the question just move on and forget about it. who cares. honestly i dont see the point in being on here anymore. i dont think yahoo created this site so everyone would start fighting about things. they started it to educate people and that should be our real goal here

I hear you!! People try to change others opinion on here a lot about different topics. As for myself, a breed is a matter of personal choice & I would never bash any breed!!
I would bet that the ones doing the bashing of breeds have never had any experience with the breed they bash!!

I understand completely.
I dislike it when people bash other dogs. You have no right. If you are out there making fun of a dog, you are most definately not understanding the dog. You probably never had one, and know not much about aside from the biased information you get from others.
I have a labrador-poodle and whenever I tell someone, I get lectured on the horrors of mixing breeds to make "designer dogs". Shut your trap. I don't want to hear you. I happen to like her very much.
And people who bash pitbulls or other dogs that appear to be mean, are very not understanding. It is bad to make judgements upon an unrealible source. I know plenty of pitbulls that are absolute sweethearts. If you don't take the time to know one, don't take the time to put down their breed.
Don't put down breeds that you don't know about. It's annoying.

Because opinions are like ***holes goes the old saying, everyone has one - I added to the saying with, or acts like one from time to time.
Anyone who bashes pits is someone who has probably had a bad experience with an animal owned by one of the above.
Undisciplined, untrained, poorly bred specimens of this owned by a jerk can be very dangerous. I recommend them to families as a great pet for kids, but I ALWAYS caution parents to go to a SHOW breeder for that reason. The average "street" bred pit is NOT the breed that I grew to love 20+ years ago. These days many of them are very high strung, and many times emotionally unstable due to poor breeding. But there are ALWAY exceptions even to the street pit bred stories. I would rely on your local rescue to identify and evaluate a safe, sane individual pet.
There are dogs by the way, that shouldnt be owned by someone who isnt experienced with dogs - the terrier breeds have many breeds within it that smart dogs but tough to train and own, and I seldom recommend any terrier breeds to someone who isnt active and knows how to commit to training and a loving FIRM hand when it comes to discipline.
A well trained dog is a FREE dog and a joy to own.

Arrogance. People hear of pits killing someone in the news and think they must all be horrible. I have not seen many other breeds get bashed on here but none should. I have tried to curb this by making questions like tell me your favorite pit story but few read the good ones they just like the bad ones. Sigh. We can only do so much.

I agree - I am tired both of the pit bull bashers and also the pit bull advocates who think they are the best breed for everyone and in every situation. They are good dogs and not demons and they make good pets for some people. But they are not the best breed for everyone in every situation. Just like any breed of dog.

I agree. I think everyone should just realize that ANY breed of dog could possibly be aggressive and attack someone for one reason or another. No breed is immune from this.
Also, we shouldn't blame the dogs for this, we should be pointing our fingers at the irresponsible dog 'owners' out there.

Why do you do it too. The answer to your question is because all people are entitled to their own opinion just seems to be some people can't handle not having control of other peoples opinions.

I think they would if everyone could just accept that it is how the dog is raised that makes a "good dog," instead of the breed.

Because sometimes people don't think its enough to answer the question. They think they should gripe and give an opinion. Sometimes they don't even answer the question.
