God has given us the holy spirit to be victorious, to experience full joy, avoid sins and have a personal experience with him. However why are many Christian not living a spirtit filled life? why do people say that they are leader (praise leader, bible study leader) but not living a example? why do some leaders, praise leaders, be involved with bible study teaching, and outside of church, they just live a normal life, thinking that they are good? Bible says, once you are new creation, our old has gone. and it also say "Be Holy because I am holy" How can there be a revival so that many christian will take the gospel seriously? Why are many christian who goes to church not actively witnessing for Christ? sharing the gospel? some church really focus on the Word which is good, but why are some minister never focus on Great Commission, Mission? and they just focus on the bible? they dont really focus on prayer, witnessing? How can Christian be the salt and light in this generation??

I understand now what the many facets of spiritual gifts pertain to. Not all of the gifts are the popular 'speaking in tongues', or prophecy. Some people have the gift of ministry through music but refuse to do it because it takes too much time away from their creature comforts, or family. The things of this World are too important to some people which leads them away from ministry and the joys of doing God's Will. However, if we are ashamed of doing works, no matter how small, in essence we are showing ourselves to be ashamed of Christ who died for us. We all know what that means.
I am not saying that every Christian should go door to door as some often do...there are other ways to share our gifts of the spirit to edify the Church and reach out to the millions of mislead or lost individuals.
Speaking in tongues, according to some groups is a mark of having received the Holy Spirit. However, the Bible teaches that it is one of the least of the gifts, and that not everyone has every gift...they are diverse, just as every cell of the human body while maintaining its own function within the body, cannot perform the function of another cell within the same body and still perform its own. Furthermore, God is a God of Law and Order, not of Confusion. On the day of Pentecost, the disciples received the Holy Spirit and were preaching in languages they previously did not understand because there were other Jews from other lands in Israel for the occasion, they spoke those other languages that were being used.
People are either afraid of witnessing, or they're preoccupied too much to do something that is risky in this day and age. Satan has made sure that it will be difficult for a person to share the Good News, because you could be fired from many jobs for verbally witnessing beyond a good Christian attitude. The ACLU also likes to prevent the positive religions from their Freedom of Speech in public.
Okay...I think I am rambling now...what was the question?

I think more than half are. Why? They go to church, but don't practive living as christians should. Some claim to be only because their parents attended that church and they grew up with church attendance being a family tradition without going to seek out the Lord, or Confess and Repent. Some feel by calling yourself christian you are saying you are a good person so they wear the name like a label or badge. Some will go to church to see what they can get out of it, never contributing though. Some read prayers out of books but never pray with Sincerity from their hearts. Some only are Christian for 2 hrs of the week during service but once out the door they retreat right back to his or her usual sinful ways. You can fool the people in the community but you can't fool the Lord so in behaving that way they will regret it in the long run. Thats also why its hard for a non christian to be led into becoming one. They look at the way most christians live which is not different from the way they live with Worldliness, so they feel what good would that do me, I'm like you already so what is the difference? Very few practice or live what they are teaching or taught. So its hard fo find a Good, True to life Christian role model these days. They see God as a Genie only when they want something praying to Him. They don't serve Him, Praise Him, and LOVE Him with all their heart soul mind and spirit. To many Gospel music is Entertainment and its another way to win a Grammy Award. Its not praise to God its Praise to get the People's approval and sell records and make $$$$ money. Their hearts are Hollywood bound not Heaven bound.

Great question, because upon growing up I have asked and wanted to know "Who is a true Christian around my neighborhood?"

First of all, people no longer pursue a relationship with God, which leads to the second point, that people don't really know God or the heart of God. The third point is that people see God as a sugar daddy or fire insurance. They no longer fear and reverence God. The fourth point is that there is no longer a hunger for holiness. People no longer dig into the Word to know the difference between right and wrong, therefore believing that whatever they think is right. This leads to relativism. That is why people can call themselves conservative Christians, but talk about partying and drinking all the time. People are sucked into the lures of the world and the Word makes them feel uncomfortable. Busy lifestyles also make it difficult for people to focus in on God and His Word. This is a common ploy of the devil in today's society. People's minds are too cluttered for God.

because the world has moved on, and most religions are still preaching down to people, your always not good enough and the mind numbing babble filled with the same old stuff drives newcomers away. Case in point - ME.
I go to church happy, looking out my window thinking "wow what a beautiful day" I go to church and listen to blah blah blah, a bunch ob bs that BARELY applies to todays standards, and leave bored and depressed.
The church does not discuss important things, unless they dance around the subject for days on in. It's mind numbing! I've tried a bunch of churches and they all are just about the same! I now have settled for the park each sunday with my family. We have our own "church" where we discuss important things and enjoy nature...I'm no longer a "christian" and proud of it. I don't need a label to be in touch with the universe/god.

many people just feel that it is easier to sin and have what they call "fun". This doesn't mean that Christianity isnt the salt and light of this generation, Christians all around the world are doing great things to help those that are less fortunate and showing them the miracles of jesus through mission work. Alot of christians who go to church are only there so they can say they went and so they dont feel bad about not going, it's just a sad fact of life.

Perhaps they are in quiet reflection with God. The Bible tells us to come and reason together not to get excited and act crazy. To the outsider it may seem dry especially if they go to one of the more entertaining type of churches. I visited another church and could not believe the noise and they had a clown there. I found it strange. The gifts of the spirit are peace, love, joy. etc. When Jesus was in the Garden He was in quiet solitude with His Father. Whatever we do in secret will be rewarded openly. Mmm

The reason is so many Christians are not living up to their full potential in Christ. They get to a point of contentment and don't want to go out of their comfort zone to experience anything deeper. It's a very sad thing, but I can guarantee that at some point, each and every Christian has been in that complacent state. What we truly need is something to shake up our spirits and fill us to overflowing so we can't help but tell others and dig knee deep to be at the place God wants us to be.

I think it's the Christianity.

Oh, I kid the Christians, but seriously. What's your "Christian" ideal? Sitting around reading the Bible and imitating Jesus? "Witnessing" (which is just a cult term for annoying people)? You may think "Mission is the Great Commission," but trust me, we've all heard about Jesus. I mean, I'm glad you've found something that you feel works for you; but it's not for me, and I absolutely disagree that one is "spiritually dry" unless one is a Christian of the particular make and mold you describe.

We often approach Christ in a self-centered manner and we are superficial , so the springs of the Spirit are not deep-welled
Some very great Christians have spiritual dryness because they are united to Christ in His suffering.

Many christians are "spiritualy dry" because they just don't practice their faith. That's the bottom line.
They quit attending church, they don't pray, they get imersed in sin and they don't practice love of neighbor anymore. They think drugs and alcohol are the answer to their problems instead of offering them up to Jesus.
Come on guys! Go back to church and appologise to Jesus for ignoring Him and losing faith in His love for you.
