Trave is Italian for beam there is also a river Trave in Germany so somewhere in Europe

1870 census has 2 not born in U. S. One was born in Hanover and the other Bremen.

New York Passenger list 1820-1957 shows the following ethnicities for persons surnamed Trave.

Spanish, German, Italian, Irish, French, Scandinavian.

The same name can come from more than one nationality and not everyone with the same surname is related even when they come from the same nationality.
