Andy,
I'm an ex vet tech, this is a very bloody and unnecessary surgery. Its already been outlawed in many other countries around the world. Unless you are going to show the dog professionally, GOING to, NOT PLANNING MAYBE TO, I'm BEGGING YOU in the name of the puppy, who cant speak for itself - PLEASE DONT CROP YOUR PUPS EARS. You're doing it for fashion, you're doing it for yourself, for how it looks for you - there is NO benefit for the dog whatsoever.
PERIOD.
Please reconsider. Boxer ears are soft and velvety and exceedingly nice to sit and stroke while reading a book or watching TV. :) A dog whose ears are cropped experiences significant pain because you are REMOVING A BODY PART! There is phantom pain issues some experts believe and there is a school of thought that an animals immune and nervous system is negatively impacted by the procedure.
Please dont do it.

To tell you the truth I always thought Boxers should get their ears cropped until my brother got a female, left her ears natural & she is beautiful. Her ears stands half way up & the tops kinda folds over. A very sweet look!!! Precious!!

Would you have liked it if your parents got your ears cropped just to make you "look hard"?????

Why would you want to get your boxers ears cropped. It can cause unnessasary pain on your poor puppy. I personally think it is cruel and pointless. What purpose would you want to crop your dogs ears?

It depends on the vet. 4 to 8 weeks is the general rule, but all vets are differnt. Check with the Boxer Society of America for their opinion. Talk to your vet and other reputatble breeders and then decide. Some vets won't even crop anymore

You really want to put your dog through a painful cosmetic surgery?

There aren't any veterinarians in my area who will do ears or tails or declaw cats.

It's all inhumane to mutilate an animal for the owner's eye.

Let your boxer have it's ears.

About 9-10 weeks old. Many vets no longer do this surgery. It is very painful for the puppy, and there are no guarantees that the ears will turn out the way you want them to.

They do ear cropping surgeries when they are about 1 month old.
I must say, though, that this is an elective surgery, and I personally am against it. It puts the puppy through a lot, and it is not necessary. Some veterinarians won't even do the surgery.
