I have a moderate disc bulge at the L5-S1. Pain and stiffness are fairly manageable but I have been advised squatting, deadlifting and now leg pressing is out of the question. This is laugable to even ask but I don't know what other options are left. Has anyone out there had any meaningful growth (or know of anyone) from leg extensions and leg curls? Go ahead and laugh, I know I would but until you're lying on a floor sometime and can't get up it's hard to understand.

I would 86 the dead lifts and keep everything else. I have complete disc herniations at L4/L5 and S1/S2 as the result of an auto accident in '97. I have no problem squatting with no belt you just have to build up the muscles in your lower lumbar and abdominal region and make them as strong as possible. you will need to definetly start a serious stretching routine and take your leg training back to square 1 and basically start over again with your training loads.
