Even my neighbors severally mentally challenged daughter knows the difference and can see that this is uncomparable. It's like comparing a pea shooter to a machine gun.

GotNews and Chihuahua mama: Thank you! As a child I was bit by a pekingese and didn't need to see a doc and was ok in less than an hour. As an adult I was bit by a pit bull and couldn't use my hand for over three months.

GotNews: You are so right on! I've seen pit bull owners even say all toy breeds should be killed! Yet we are to punish the deed not the breed when a pit bull kills a man?

You are so right hala. They have no real defense so in desperation always drag out idiotic statements like that which just shows how uneducated the average pitbull owner is. Pitbulls can kill a chihuahua with one bite and head shake. One attacked my 2 small dogs last year at the offleash dog park. Luckily the owner got him off within seconds then a minute later it attacked my other dog the same way so the owner leashed him and took him home with me yelling at him to keep your f'in killer dog out of this park. I had another near confrontation there too with a pit bull pack at the same park. They started circling my little dog and I new something bad was going to happen so I picked him up and quickly left. I got into a severe yelling match with them about their fighting dogs being here and I dont think I've seen them since.
There are serious pitbull attacks every day on PEOPLE in the US with many fatalities. Just a week ago a couple killed their OWNER and theire was no sign of abuse.
These pitbull cretins always bring out the one very rare case where a pom killed a newborn baby a few years ago.as an example of how bad other dogs can be. They have theri freakin heads in the sand and refuse to believe the obvious.
Last week somebody posted a beware poster of a couple pits that attacked he lab requiring 200 stitches. This is the very scary part. They worked as a TEAM! One pit held down the lab while the other chomped on her!

You can make what argument that you want EVERYONE knows your a bigot against pit bulls. Its like me saying A 45 Cal. hand gun is more deadly because of its size then a .22 cal. The fact is that hit men prefer a .22 because they are deadlier then a 45 because it don't go through the body like a 45 will. A .22 smaller around then a pea. It tumbles through out the body and hits major organs and will case more damage. So before you try and force facts your way to try and prove a point shut up and think. Any dog can cause damage and just because its a small dog does mean it cant kill. Here a real fact Chihuahuas are know for killing more new baby's in a year then what a pit bull has done in the last 5 years.

Because more toy breeds are biters than Pit Bulls. I work at a shelter, and I've never been bit by a Pit, and I've been bit by at least 5 toy/small breeds.
Too bad you're going through life with blinkers...can't see what's around you, just what you want to see. Sometimes, I actually feel sorry for you.

Fact a six pound pom killed a baby. I had a chihuahua onec he bit my 6'10' father so bad he nned to go to the hosptil. Why do people who own small dogs never think they can do damage. I owned a 6# poodle-x and two pit/chow mixes. The poodle-x ruled the yard. More vets, dog walkers, groomer and AC officers have been biten by small breeds that large ones. Two Vets i worked for loved pits, one bred them, and loved to work on them. Let a mimi pooodle or chihuahua come in and they would grone. The one thta bred pit bull moved from my home town when they bann pit bulls saying he would not live anywhere that would take such a dumb action.

I bred Chihuahuas in the past and at one time had 11. Everyone was friendly, loving, and I just love the breed. They require little care and give lots of love. They may bark a lot when seeing a stranger for the first time but generally calm down and do not attack or bite unless provoked. Right now I have three, 2 females and 1 long coat male. All sleep with me at night along with the Lab and occasionally a cat or two. I live in a zoo and love it. In the past they would run and hide when company came to visit and i called them my "proud cowards", Imagine weighing 3-5 pounds and afraid of being stepped on. Chihuahuas tend to be one person dogs, however mine love everyone. No dog is inherently "BAD" it really depends upon their training and their response to the world around them. It is totally unfair to compare a tiny dog (Chihuahuas happen to be the smallest dogs) to larger breeds. Larger breeds can appear to be more aggressive due to their size. Our lab sometimes plays rough with the little ones, and yet she is not rough and love to play along. Don't judge a dog by its breed!

So why aren't you comparing German Shepherds or Scottish Deer Hounds to Chihuahuas? their bites are just as damaging as any other large dogs. Why pitt bulls?
I am not a pitt bull owner, and I live in a county that had a viscious and horrific pitt bull attack a few years ago, but I am not so much of a sheep as to start "book burning."
Can't we keep to better subjects and not try to inflame people with propoganda all the time?
Edit: Oh my word! I just read Kings claim that there are pitt bull attacks every day. I would LOVE to see your proof of that! What a ridiculous claim with no foundation in fact! You made my day-great laugh!
I don't even especially like pitt bulls, but I am sick to death of this pitt bull "bashing" all the time.

They are both known for aggression issues. Pit Bulls are trained to fight, and Chihuahuas are territorial. I'm not saying that either is a bad breed - I have a Chihuahua myself. They just both have negative connotations that go along with the name.

you can compare any dog to any other dog. they hall have different as well as similar characteristics. this is a silly question. jump off a bridge. pits are wonderful animals, my question is how do you compare pit bulls to machine guns?
it seems like every day i have to toss out the pit bull hero site, so once again here it is.. enjoy everyone!
http://www.understand-a-bull.com/HeroicPitties/HeroicPitties.htm
Edit:
i just read the post above mine
wow
so you think that just because a chihuahua wont hurt you as bad as a pit, its not a big deal?
NO dog should bite, and if trained well, wont.
people compare them because chihuahuas tend to be meaner than pits. not saying by nature, but there are too many irresponsible chihuahua owners who cant control their dogs.
most pit owners realize they are ambassadors and make sure they have the most well behaved dog on the block.
Edit #2
i realize you are not using that as an extent of damage meter.. but then you are going to use chihuahua to pit bull as an extent of damage meter? cmon, you cant even use logic in your own arguement. and even if you werent refering to extent of damage, you still related chihuahuas to pea shooters and pits to machine guns... ?
edit:
ok you WERE using it as a measure of damage.. do you realize that pit bull bite pressure is the same as any other dog, and a lot of times less?
Pit Bulls have a 1800 PSI Jaw Pressure. Wrong again. Working with author Karen Delise (Fatal Dog Attacks) we have researched the references used for this data and have found there is no factual research to support this claim. This myth stems from an article published in the 1989 The Journal of Trauma "Mauling by Pit bull Terriers: A Case Report" by Bret R. Baack, M.D., John O. Kucan, M.D., Gerland Demarest, M.D and E. Clyde Smoot, M.D. On Page 519 it states: "Pit Bulls bite with greater force than most dogs (up to 1,800lb/in2) (4).
Reference (4) cited for this fact is: "Dog bites in children: Epidemiology, microbiology, and penicillin prophylactic Therapy but Douglas A. Boenning, M.D., Gary R. Fleisher, M.D., and Joesph M. Campos, PhD.
However, neither the topic of bite pressure nor pit bulls is addressed or even mentioned throughout the entire article.
This case report is promoted by many people as fact, yet it's not substantiated anywhere.
On the other hand, here is scientific evidence proving this myth is an urban legend:
Dr. Brady Barr of National Geographic (Dangerous Encounters: Bite Force, 8pm est 8/18/2005) – Dr. Barr measured bite forces of many different creatures. Domestic dogs were included in the test.
Here are the results of all of the animals tested:
Humans: 120 pounds of bite pressure
Domestic dogs: 320 LBS of pressure on avg. A German Shepard, American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) and Rottweiler were tested using a bite sleeve equipped with a specialized computer instrument. The APBT had the least amount of pressure of the 3 dogs tested.
Wild dogs: 310 lbs
Lions: 600 lbs
White sharks: 600 lbs
Hyenas: 1000 lbs
Snapping turtles: 1000 lbs
Crocodiles: 2500 lbs
IN ADDITION:
the majority of pit bull attacks are case of mistaken identity.
we live in a country where the media rules the world.
just look at iraq.. according to the news its soooo horrible. ive been there. 4 times.
statistically you are more likely to die in the states than over there. funny huh?
many attacks are said to be pit bulls because that is what people want them to be. they are reported that way, then later on comes an investigation and guess what... its not a pit! wow! but by then who wants to read the same story, its old news and we are on to the next thing like bird flu or something else to get the masses freaked.
anyway, just to further prove my point take this fun little "find the pit bull" test... i doubt youll find the good ol boy on the first try.

GOD, I am sick of that also!!!! They keep spouting things like"Chis bite more people than pits"!! Who the hell cares?? I doubt there is anyone that would rather be bitten by a pit than a Chi. You can kill a Chi with your bare hands!!! Punt it across the room!!! Drop a book on it!! A pit will take a huge chunk out of you before you can give any thought to defending yourself!!!!!!
Guess it is all many people can come up with!!!!
And these are the same people that say you should punish the DEED not the BREED, yet they seem to forget that when talking about Chi's. I am NO fan of Chi's. I expect them to bite or at least nip. BUT, I think it is like that with most small breeds because the owners CODDLE them all the time and tolerate that kind of crap. But people say they are "nasty little dogs"!!! You say pits are "aggressive" and they freak out!!!!!
