Depending on the state, it can be considered capital murder. In states that have the death penalty, this is usually the guaranteed sentence. In states that do not have the death penalty, it would be life in prison without the opportunity of parole. This crime brings about the toughest penalties as there is no one who has pity for a child killer.

It should be life in an orphanage, with, I say reluctantly, close supervision.
But it would be cruel and unusual punishment to leave the murderer at the mercy of the little bastards.

The same for murder of adults. It varies by state but murder is murder.

Depends on the state. If they have Capital Punishment, then the death penalty card will be dealt.

It really depends on the state the crime is committed in. The ultimate penalty in each state is usually given. Each state has a different ultimate penalty. But it is usually death or life in prison.

Blue state - Liberal - some times as little as 6 months up to life in prison w/o parole.
Red state - Conservative - Death penalty most times otherwise life w/o parole.
