A lot of gifted and talented people are mentally ill in that they often have a depressive personality that involves periods of mania, such as bipolar. Medication can 'take away' the creativity and replace it with a more logical mindset. As someone who has a mental illness, I would say very few of them feel shunned or misunderstood, most recognise the role the illness plays in their creativity.

Is it not a fact that as man goes down the wrong road that when they meet any gifted people that they do not rate them, and it does not matter what some of Thea's people do even though it may benefit all no respect is shown them it is my belief that most people are so full of themselves they do not know that without such they would be lost . Look at the so called star,s ,footballers or any one like them they who add very little to a better way of life but get payed vast amount of cash and in them selves are very shallow, yes they do have big numbers that follow them Shame.

Yes. Mental illness has nothing to do with how one is treated. Though it does hurt mentally, emotionally & sometimes physically it's not the cause of it.
You have savants like in Rain Man. Plus there are many others who though lacking in one area are extremely gifted in another. I know one child that though an adult his handwriting, reading, etc. is more at a 4th grade level. Yet he loves to take these japanese model kits with a hundred tiny little parts & put them together in less than an hour with all instructions being in japanese when they take hours or days for others to do if at all. He also has such a fine eye for detail his drawings are amazing.
I like to think that God gave them something special to make up for what they lost.

Many very talented artists and musicians have some deeply rooted issues they are battling, some to the point of clinical illnesses. it's where true inspiration for some incredible art comes from.
Vincinet Van Gohg struggled with severe depression and anxiety all his life before committing suicide. There were much less treatment options back then. He might have even been bipolar, diagnosis for the disease back then was scarce.

I have heard it said that there is a very thin line between genus and insanity.
I wonder how many people in the past have been locked up because the genus or theories have not been understood.
Interesting question, makes a change from some, well done hope you get some interesting answers......but dont hold your breath.......

thair is a condition called manic depression aka bipolar where during manic phases sufferers can be extreamly creative some scientists have been suspected of having this but in sevear casses it is to disruptive to their thinking for them to be coherant, also john nash the winner of a nobel prise for economics has scitsophrenia, (film a beautiful mind) Motzart was thought to have tourets, and their are rare cases of autistic people being able to have all the benefits of the condition but few if any of the downside.

What I would like to know, as all are born in sin from Adam, what is a normal
mentality, what is average, and what is the best.
But as death can happen any time to a person in perfect health, or sickness can happen any time to the healthy, then so it is with the most stable and alert mentality.

Depends on what you define as mentally ill. Van Gogh for instance. Often regarded as suffering from deep deep depression but in reality was suffering from Syphillis. Some very very talented musicians, Joplin, Hendrix, Presley to name but three have died from drug overdoses, is that a mental illness, the experiences from the past had led them in this direction (psyho babble but trust me, I know where I'm coming from on this) We all have our dark sides to our psyhe, it depends on how we us it, where it's chanelled. Spike Milligan was often regarded as mad but if you read about what he went through..., being shelled could send anyone mad. But Spike was mad anyway. Thre's always a fine line between madness and genious. god, I'm dfrunk
