I have to agree with you, dizzy, but I also think parents actually no longer care about their children:
They are simply raised as products rather than a child that needs parental guidance. The children are raised in environments where they sit most of the day in front of the TV or a computer screen....both of which normally contain violent images and readily available to young children.
Things won't improve until these so-called parents are taken more into account for their children's behaviour.......lazy parents will breed lazy children.........but the media will influence the violence.

It's not the television that's the problem. It's the parents completely. They want to be best friends, they don't want to discipline. They're afraid someone will call CPS. Parents are basically the ones who are afraid of their children, so they let them run over them and do anything they want.
You want to talk about violence on tv. I grew up watching horror movies when I was around 9 or 10 years old. I've seen violence on tv. I haven't ever repeated or done anything I saw on tv, because my dad taught me right from wrong. Which is more than I can say for the people these days that calls themselves "parents". In reality, they're defined as "B.F.F.'s".

When it comes to T.V. people should start picking on the cultures (for one example: U.S.A. Hollywood) that drive the production of violent T.V. shows and movies.
T.V. has some very good educational stuff for kids, you just have to find it. People who refuse to let their children watch any T.V. are wrong.
You can't keep kids in a bubble. Like real life you avoid (if you can) the bad and violence around you, and seek a safe living environment. That doesn't always work out though does it?
The worst is video and arcade games that promote violence. Society can make a stand against that and complain to places that have those games, if they really wanted to.
The human race moves too slowly for it's own good. We focus on money, it drives everything and is very powerful. When will that ever change? In my opinion--not in our lifetime.

As a parent I'm not the best in the world today, but I have no cable, Neither do I have games for them to play with. I remember, as a kid I made mud pancakes outside my mothers yard. Now that's fun alot of fun and so I want my kids to understand the meaning of life and appreciate it as i did.
My upbringing was not with a silver spoon in my mouth but with love, morals, value and respect, not to mention to shut your mouth and not interrupt when a grown up is speaking :)
This is all based on the parent, The parent has alot to do with the way kids come out too be. I personally cant stand parents who scream and yell for no reason, kids will be kids its being patient and loveing your children as they should be loved...

Well, it's the same thing about drugs. Some parents grew up with their parents smoking and using drugs so they think it's fine to do it in front of their kids. The same thing happens with tv. Maybe all through the parent's life their parents always watched violence. So the parents probably think it's normal.

I and my little brother have seen violent movies ever since children. It really depends on how you take it in as a child. Our parents constantly tell us to make the right choices and whatnot, so we listen and don't get into bad stuff that you might see on TV.
If the discipline is balanced with the TV and the kids know what is right from wrong, I don't see the problem in watching violent TV if your parents permit it. It's a sign of trust and kids dwell on parental trust.

It depends. Some parents think their kids will find a way to watch whatever is considered cool (and there's no better way to convince teenagers something's cool than slapping an 18 rating on it) and it's better for them to have a parent on hand to monitor what they're seeing and provide some balance. Other parents are desensitised to TV violence themselves so don't notice their kids are being exposed to it.

I agree. Kids watch too much rap, so much that our kids don't even know how to talk when they come to school. The violence--when kids play with toy guns, or video games, it just becomes an automatic reaction to pull the trigger when you feel threatened, even if the gun in your hand is a real one.
I don't know what's right for other parents to do. I just know how I've raised mine. Mine turned out good.

I agree with you entirely. Parents should act more responsibly and stop children watching anything not suitable. Also so many people today can't do anything without background noise which just gets on my nerves. Nearly every tv programme has unnecessary background noise too. I think we are all being slowly driven mad by it. That goes for kids too.

Its not the television thats responsible for todays problems, its the doo gooders. If a school teacher was to discipline a kid nowadays, the kid threatens to get the social services onto them. There is no discipline. There is no fear in getting caught shop lifting, or causing a nuisance in their neighbourhood, after all, whats the worst that can happen? It just ups their kudos with their mates. One thing, now that things are in the state that there in, and it'll only get worse, the doo gooders appear to have gone quiet.
