I am a Christian, but I am also a believer in theistic evolution. I also have a BS in molecular biology. I just wanted to provide some background so you see where I am coming from with this question.
God created us as biological human beings. He created the universe and everything within it. This makes God the best biologist, chemist, physicist, mathematician, etc. I think you get my point. For those of you who do not believe in evolution or the big bang, do you think God used science to create us? Or do you think He just spoke us into existence and like magic we were created? This latter question is, in my opinion, ignorance of God's intelligence and His magnificent creations. Why would He make us and the universe so complex if He did not use scientific law to establish life as we know it?

I have yet to see a creditable "Christian Science" website, no wait, there was a very good Biblical Archeology site that had an analysis of the exodus and did a good job of objectively looking at the facts. It admitted, reluctantly of course, that there was at best very little evidence for the exodus occurring. Most "Christian Science" website and books use a High School understanding of the Laws of thermodynamics and other subjects i.e. correct for limited situations but not the full breadth of the law, theory or concept. Please post your sources, sites, etc and I'll be happy to read them. Edit: The first article I read "Evidence for a Young World" is precisely what I'm talking about, at least he didn't include the infamous Niagara Falls fallacy, although he did talk about several items that were nearly as bad. The parts about the level of mud on the ocean floor and it's salinity completely disregard the changes over the earths surfaces over the last 400 million years or so. His assertions about comet size are laughable at best and based on some unrealistic assumptions. It would be interesting to submit his paper to an scientific journal for review, I doubt that it would last for 10 minutes. 2nd Edit: Just read "Stratigraphic Evidence of the Flood" intersetingly it makes the same mistakes and waves it's hands at things like the Ice Ages, plate movements, differences in strata (amount, type, fossils, age, etc) of areas that he is using for the proof of the flood. Interestingly he doesn't mention that there simply is not enough, nor has there been, hydrogen to make water to flood the world globally. I would continue, but your "ha ha" comment indicates that you are not serious and probably would not take the time to understand the real science behind the world.

Please help to inform the other Christians so that they do not oppose science on religious grounds or lower scientific literacy with extremely deceptive ideologies like creationism and intelligent design.

It's getting out of hand in the United States, and it will turn back the clock on our scientific progress if it has not done so already. The superstition also enforces the idea that it's fine for religious authorities to lie to their "flock."

I say this tenderly, as I do want to see a society educated in how science and the universe work, regardless of their other beliefs! Education would make it harder for the ministers and snake oil salesman to take advantage of people!

Edit: Look at some of the responses below if you need evidence. They have a mentality from the Dark Ages.

God has immutable laws that mankind is only barely and partially discovering. So, I think God is the Creator, and God has many co-creators too... I also think that true science and God are not at odds with each other. The religionist and the scientist might as human beings with human understanding be at odds with each other, but... I think like you more than not: God is the Almighty and is the Most Magnificent Original Creator of All Science Who Created All Natural Laws that human beings are only barely beginning to understand. I think it's time to awaken to this fact of the gigantic universe of universes we live in.

Yes, I think God used evolution, and that the religionist and scientist have many holes to fill in, though because neither one seems to have all the answers we need to finally know... there are things missing on both sides. No, God is not magic, He only SEEMS to be to us little old humans because we do not know how God does everything, and so it SEEMS like magic. But God gave us time and as time marches on we as each generation passes learn more and more.

The sad thing to me is why do people make it be at odds with God? It is people at odds with people's lack of all the facts.

Sinse God is science I am not afraid of it....... God created all things therefore science is a part of creation...... the Bible speaks of FALSE science, a science that goes beyond the true nature of God....... saying that we were created from any thing or anyway other than God is going beyond God..... God uses everything he created ..... God created the matter of which we are made, therefore yes God is the greatest of ALL inventors, chemist, biologist........ any science that leaves God out of the equation is a false science.... go in peace...... God bless

Christians have had their share of great scientific minds. Science has always had to wait for a politically friendly time to have it's findings accepted. Many people, period, are ignorant of science.

Careful, they're going to say you're not a true Christian for understanding science.

Their pastors buttress their ignorance. If people were educated in basic science, there'd be less churchgoers at the fundie centers.

Edit: my father was also a scientist and theistic evolutionist, but he concentrated less on the theistic and more on the evolution, since it was more interesting than repeating rituals.

probably the same reason why your ignorant when it comes to the word of God.

i understand fully about science and evolution. i believe that God gave man the gift to try and understand this world in scientific view.

just because Christians may not believe that we all evolved from apes does not mean they don't understand evolution or science.

you dont test my education and i wont test your faith. you have no right to judge.

I looked into the whole creationist thing; I read Darwins books. But science is not the reason I believe in God.

You are right in that He created everything. In the bible, it says that He said "Let there be light" and there was light. I don't think there was any science used in that.
