I have a warrant and I called downtown and they said that if I come down there then they'll put me on a docket and I wont be arrested... And then they said that if I come and pay my bail then I wont be arrested. I have no Idea... Does anyone else know if I go downtown and ask for a court date if they will arrest me? I live in columbus, ohio. Please if you have any information please help me. My warrant if for writing 2 bad checks to the same place under $500.00. It was in 2004 and was not on purpose, I was 18 and I split up with my hubby and didnt know they was no money in the bank. Thank you.

The warrant is to force you to appear before the court.

If you go voluntarily to appear before the court -- they won't get rid of the warrant, but they won't arrest you either -- they'll let you appear before the court as scheduled.

Once the court matters are resolved, then they'll get rid of the warrant -- not before.

Get a No Cost Background Check Scan at https://bitly.im/aOhyn

Its a sensible way to start. The site allows you to do a no cost scan simply to find out if any sort of data is in existence. A smaller analysis is done without cost. To get a detailed report its a modest payment.

You may not realize how many good reasons there are to try and find out more about the people around you. After all, whether you're talking about new friends, employees, doctors, caretakers for elderly family members, or even significant others, you, as a citizen, have a right to know whether the people you surround yourself with are who they say they are. This goes double in any situation that involves your children, which not only includes teachers and babysitters, but also scout masters, little league coaches and others. Bottom line, if you want to find out more about someone, you should perform a background check.

You have a couple of choices:
1. Hire a lawyer and get real legal advice.
2. Hope the people here on Y!A give you useful information
3. Gather the money for the bail and fine etc and go down and pay it. If you take this route I would have someone you can call if something goes wrong and set aside the better part of a day.

You can try to sue the person you wired the money to, if you can find him or her. You owe the money, but since you are not able to pay it all and are willing to make payments that is all they can ask. If they issue a warrent for your arrest, the police will take you to see a judge. You should be eligible for a public defender. The judge will set a trial date. If he thinks you are a flight risk, you will have to post bail. If not, you will be told to return for the trial. The public defender should tell you what to expect at the trial. I would but I haven't got a clue. Keep stressing the fact that you didn't know it was a scam and you are willing to make payments. It is up to the judge, not checksmart, on whether they will accept payments. They cannot put you in jail, only the judge can do that. Don't let them intimidate you.

Go to your local courthouse and ask to talk to the presiding Judge. Tell the Judge how you made a mistake and did not intentionally walk away from your two insufficient funded checks. Ask the Judge if you can set up a payment plan to pay off your bad checks. If he agrees to help you, then hopefully he will lift the warrant. Better to turn yourself in, then to allow the warrant to cause you physical restraint.

Go to the police station, surrender to them and they will arrest and book you, at that time you can post bail and they will give you a court date, make sure you show up in court or a more serious warrant will be issued.

you should go down there and yah they will probli arrest you and make you pay the bail but its the only way to get a warrent off you. when you go to court you can hire a lawyer to tell your story and hopefully not be thrown into jail for what ever the charges are. good luck

NWIC- NEGOTIATING WORTHLESS INSTRUMENT CHECK?

IF YOU GO DOWNTOWN THEY CAN DO THE WARRANT AND COURT DATE. THEY HAVE TO ID YOU AND FINGERPRINT AND PHOTO YOU. THIS IS A CRIME. BASED UPON WHAT YOU STATED YOU HAVE A CASE TO PLEA THAT YOU AND HUBBY SPLIT AND HE TOOK MONEY OUT OF ACCOUNT. THE PROBLEM IS WHY DID IT TAKE YOU SO LONG TO FIND OUT? MOST CHECKS BOUNCED ARE RETURNED TO SENDERS LAST KNOWN ADDRESS? AT ANY RATE YOU WILL HAVE YOUR DAY IN COURT. YOU MIGHT WANT TO CONTACT A BAIL BONDSMAN TO SET BAIL FOR YOU. OR YOU CAN SET YOUR OWN BAIL IF ONE IS SET. WARRANT BAD CHECKS? $500??
