Hi

Some people can have only one stroke and die, but it depends on the person's health and the type of stroke. According to wikipedia, the risk of a stroke is increased by advanced age, hypertension (high blood pressure), previous stroke, diabetes mellitus, high cholesterol, cigarette smoking, migraine with aura, and thrombophilia. The most common type of stroke is Ischemic stroke. Studies show that patients treated in hospitals with a dedicated Stroke Team or Stroke Unit and a specialized care program for stroke patients have improved odds of recovery. The results of stroke vary widely depending on size and location of the lesion.

You sound like you are very in touch with your emotions and very well spoken. Congratulations on being open and expressing your thoughts publicly. That is very mature and psychologically healthy. Some people may be unfortunate enough to dwell on things and take years to resolve such issues that should have been handled during life. Chances are since you are still young that you lived your life with your grandmother happily and truthfully as you wanted to. So if you had no regrets or unresolved issues when she died then you should have a reasonably easy time "getting over it" or grieving as you did. You cried for a few minutes and that's it! Good! You grieved. Now keep on being happy. And again congratulations for having a healthy relationship with your grandmother while she was alive and for having a healthy relationship with YOURSELF:)

An infinite number!! A human body/mind/soul is capable of incredible feats. It's when the mind makes up it's mind to let go do you die.

To Matthew, good grief.. are you confusing strokes with permanent brain damage???? Why not research what a stroke is before pecking off some answer that sounds retarded?

It depends on the person and the type of stroke they are having. Some people can handle multiple strokes while others die with just one stroke. It really depends on the health of the person and what type of stroke they are having.
