Why has nothing been done? How many people have to be maimed and killed before pit bulls are done away with?
Here are some snippits of a sad sad case.
"Police say three dogs went on a rampage in a northwest suburb. Six people have been seriously injured. One child was listed in critical condition Saturday night."
"One of the people attacked is the owner of the dogs."
"Apparently unprovoked and almost unstoppable, three pit bulls attacked at random, tearing the clothes off of a child, biting a thumb off their owner. "
"Police say there is nothing to suggest the pit bulls were being trained to fight."

Us Soldier: I don't have a favorite breed. I love many kinds. I've owned a mutt out and out not even sure what was in him though we know he did have some poodle in there and he was a great dog. Hmmm, all but one of the rest were cross breeds.

I understand how some people love pit bulls and how some people own them for years without any issues. But at the same time, I don't think we should ignore statistics. If you're going to own a pit, I think you should be a responsible owner and take steps to prevent things like this from happening. (Ie don't let your dog off your property, etc etc etc). You can't belame the dogs really - you have to belame the owners that aren't doing their job.

The only time i ever see you post on here is to post hate against the breed, I dont know if your just bored or what. But you never have your facts right and i can easy point out more ankle biter stories then these so call pit bull attacks. There are 26 other dogs that look like pit bulls. You say you know about pit bulls but from what i have read about you and everything you post just showsyour just another ignorant person out there NOT using commen sence.
This quote is comming from a actualy expert on dog not some bratty little teen spewing hate about a breed you truly know nothing about.
"My kids are around pit bulls every day. In the '70s they blamed Dobermans, in the '80s they blamed German shepherds, in the '90s they blamed the Rottweiler. Now they blame the pit bull." - Cesar Millan
Pit bulls get a bad rap because of irresponsible owners. Many people consider the look or popularity of a breed before thinking about whether the dog works for their lifestyle. Please evaluate your lifestyle before taking on the responsibility of a pit bull
You say your not a teen but you complain and B#$% all the time about the breed, and provide not real fact about them. You spew hate out of your mouth each time you open it. Tell me your type of dog i will find 10 or more stoires about your dogs and i will Actualy read the storie and at least get the facts of the storie right at the very least unlike you..Geeeezzz

Ok what the question is what made them triger these people? And the owners didnt have any control over the situation. I own an american pitbull terrier he is the most lovable dog you would know, i started socalizing him when he was 6 weeks old,he has been around a lot of people and dogs. also where they a wrong usually dogs trained to fight are not human aggressive, all micheal vicks dog been rescued. The owners didnt properly train these dogs. So not every pitbull is mean! Its usually the owers who think they can buy these breeds and abuse them. Also in other countries they are fighting other breeds. so before pointing at ONE breed think about what if it was your breed of choice how would you feel.. PUNNISH THE DEED NOT THE BREED!

Sorry, all Pits aren't bad news!! My daughter has Pits, all are inside dogs raised with two girls, ages 4 & 6 years old. The oldest Pit, they have had since she was 8 weeks old & the oldest girl was only about 6 months old. NEVER, not once has there been issues with these dogs around these children.
You can bet my @$$ that if anyone would try to harm these little girls, then there would be a major issue, with the person trying to harm them. Any dog would do that!!
Have you heard, or do you know that back in the 70's the Doberman Pinschers were the breed back then to get the bad rap? It was always said that they (Dobies) would just snap, go off and attack their owners for no reason.
Back then Dobermans were in the wrong hands for the wrong reasons as the Pits are today!!
When will you people ever realize MAN makes a dog what they are!!!

i think i am going to introduce a new concept to my state government. OSL. Owner Specific Legislation. and what the hay while we r at it BSL. Breeder Specific Legislation. OSL meaning only people who have very good knowledge of the breed can own the dog. the dog will be checked on to insure that they r in a safe environment. Breeder Specific Legislation. only certain people can breed the dogs. only people who r more concerned about temperament rather than the looks of the dog. y do u have something against a breed u have probably never even met or touched or even come within 6 feet of. hell 10 feet of. ur basing ur opinion on what others r saying. if someone said jump off that bridge would u do it. no because that is ur opinion. but if someone said jump off that bridge. trust me its fun. u would probably do it because that is the way u r. and i am willing to bet that those dogs were either pit mixes or some other breed. the media immediately blames it on pits because they dont want to give other breeds a bad name. so dont come here and start an argument until u have had first hand experience with a pit. so come back after u meet a pit bull. ur saying u have problems with a breed of dog. there r far worse things in this world. take a look at this article from MY local newspaper
http://www.postbulletin.com/newsmanager/templates/localnews_story.asp?a=311980&z=2
there r people like this in the world and u r far more preoccupied with a dog that u have never met. u really need to rethink ur priorities

They are not going to be eliminated as a breed....if only for the reason that there are people who want them. To eliminate the breed is considered "extremist" type thinking, and in todays world of PC, it will never happen, if only because it's not a "tolerant" attitude. Right or wrong, that's the way it is. I remember when the big push was on doberman's. Now it's pit bulls. Justified or not, it won't happen anymore than smoking a joint will become legal in all 50 states.
BTW, can you believe that it's against the law to own a pet ferret in California? Perfect example of bass ackwards logic.

How come you never post a story like this?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/femail/article.html?in_article_id=485990&in_page_id=1879
That was a lab mix.
I know you, an uneducated Pit hater, would NEVER post this article about Pits:
http://media.www.thebatt.com/media/storage/paper657/news/2007/10/15/Opinion/Editorial.Observer.American.Sweetheart-3031706.shtml
Just in case you don't read it (which you probably won't, since it speaks well about Pits), here's a really good paragraph:
"Pit bulls are one of the most stable breeds in existence. The American Temperament Test Society tests the stability of dogs across their breed by confronting them with a series of confrontational situations. If the dog exhibits signs of aggression or panic, they fail the test. Out of the 542 pit bulls tested, 84.1 percent passed. Not only is this score better than average, it is also higher than scores earned by beagles, collies, yorkies and golden retrievers."
Or how about this one?
http://www.siouxcityjournal.com/articles/2007/10/09/news_opinion/letters/7db3994e206e571b8625736e0079aeec.txt
Because you're racist against Pits. Too bad common sense can't get through your thick skull.

If you have NEVER owned a PITBULL then keep your mouth off of them. I OWN one and if anyone even thought of touching her I WOULD KILL. When you talk about all pits you are putting my dog in your mouth. You dont know my dog so keep her out of your mouth! I blame the owners NOT THE BREED! I would never own another breed of dog....And just so you know.....I breed my PIT! Let someone try to stop me from breeding her and see what happens. I will go to jail over my dog. If a human tried to kill my dog....Hope I dont get to you first because instead of the dog being dead....the person would be! My pit is great with my 4 kids and our family! Find a new breed of dog to mess with and leave the PITBULLS alone. They go through enough!

It is the owners to blame not the dog. Many times I have seen children with rottweilers and dobermans, if something happened they could not hold the dog let alone control it.Bring back the dog licence fee and raise it to £100.00 PER DOG. Punish the owners. EDIT I have a Pekingese who just does not like children, I would never put him or a child at risk by allowing him near a child, unfortunately he looks so cute that children want to pet him. A vet told me once that if Pekingese were larger they would have been one of the first dogs to go on the dangerous dog register as once they go for it they take no prisoners. My point is that any dog can be dangerous and it is up to the owner to be responsible.

In the hands of the WRONG people, ANY dog can attack, the press tends to be all about it if it involves a bullie breed, and alot of the times it is over exaggerated.. If this is how you feel then why do we let child molesters back on the streets, you should be asking that instead of being mislead by the news, heck they cant even get the whether right most of the time, let alone a story.. I agree with others don't start drama..
