They are brother and sister and always got along but they are hating each other right now. Is it b/c they are in pain? He seems to be perfectly fine but she is so miserable. The poor thing keeps falling and looks so sad. Why is he okay and she's not? Another thing...they keep taking the collar thingy off but not licking. Is this ok??

Spaying is alot harder surgery than a neuter, removal of the ovaries and uterus ......give her time but restrict both of their activities. And when an animal gets spayed or neutered it changes the way they smell to each other. So just give them a few days to adjust and they will be fine.

First of all thank you for having your cats spayed/neutered.
Second spaying is a much more invasive surgery so your little girl will have a longer recovery time than your boy. That is normal. They are also going to be grumpy with each other due to the fact that they are uncomfortable and most likely not too sure what happend. Give them time to heal and they should come back around to being friends. Since they are siblings and where done at the same time they should get along fine. Your female keeps falling over because her tummy hurtsand it si more comfortable to lay than to walk around. Time and patience is the key here

OK, THE FIRST THING IS THAT YES THEY ARE IN A LITTLE PAIN. THEY HAVE JUST HAD SURGERY AND BELIEVE IT OR NOT THAT IS A TRAUMA TO THEM. AS THEY HEAL THEY WILL GET ALONG AGAIN. THE FEMALES TAKE LONGER TO HEAL THAN MALES. GIVE HER A FEW DAYS. GIVE HER LOTS OF WATER, AND SOME CANNED FOOD FOR THE NEXT WEEK. HIM TOO. YOUR CATS WILL BE FINE. AS FOR THE COLLAR ALL LITTLE CATS DON'T LIKE TO WEAR THEM JUST KEEP PUTTING THEM BACK ON. LICKING? DON'T KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEANT THERE.

Spaying of the female is a major operation and will take her a little longer to get over it. Our females always took a day or so before they were back to normal. Just make sure you do all the post surgery things your vet told you to do for both.

They desire the cats not to transfer a LOT that means that no stair hiking or mattress leaping will have to be allowed with essential surgical procedure stitches. Keep the cats interior, in a quiet subject. A cage is just too small for them (you did not say they are feral so I'm assuming they are pleased with individuals). Just hold every in a separate room so they are able to heal and recuperate.

The females surgery is considered major abdominal surgery, and is a much more serious operation than the males castration. Both animals should have been dispensed at least several days of pain medication--to not do so is both cruel and inhumane and goes against the American Animal Hospital Association's (AAHA) standard of care.

spaying is ALOT more intensive then neutering so in my experience the males handle it better than the females, give it a cpl days and shell feel better. make sure they dont like their incision sites. good luck, oh and the collar thingie is really unnessicary, they will feel better w/o it but if they start licking then put it back on the one whos licking

You have to remember that they were both put under using anesthesia, if you take that coupled with the car ride and sitting in the horrible carrier - your babies have had a tough day and really need to chill and sleep. I had to separate my brother and sister cats the day of fixing them for about twelve hours because he was trying to have sex with her. She was really disoriented and very scared, I sat with her for most of the night. They are going to howl to get to each other but you just have to ride it out. I did not have the cone collars on mine, they will not start to lick for a day or so but you really do have to watch them. They dont understand surgery and will overextend themselves.

Mainly they are just sortof stoned right now and not themselves, separate them for a day if you can. She will need lots of love and comfort from you - poor dear is terrified. Sit with her and stroke her gently, let her lay against your leg for warmth. My little girl trembled she was so upset. Its been a few months and she still nuzzles next to my thigh for comfort, we totally bonded.

Be careful with him jumping. I followed them for a few days and would lift them if it looked like they wanted to go somewhere.

Dont forget the newspaper litter and really limit the food and water the first 24 - they will get sick.

Good luck, they just need some extra TLC.
