My Dad left my mother when I was 3 for another woman.
He already had a son from a previous relationship who he still sees(he's grown up now) but he hasn't had any contact with me since I was 3.
Is it because I'm a female?

no one here knows you dad or your mom so we cannot give you an answer, only advice. And mine is to approach both parents and ask why your dad was never a part of your life (and take each answer with a grain of salt).

I know from experience that mothers often play a crucial part in whether or not the dad has a role in the children's lives so don't judge him just yet.

Then build your self esteem and move on. We can only control ourself. Be a better person than your parents despite your childhood shortcomings.

No, it is not because you are a female, it is because he is a MALE. He has never learned how to prioritize his life. It is not your fault that he is that way. Someday, as he ages, he will want to get to know you, in the mean time enjoy your life.

you are grown now? why not ask him? or could it be your mother has never allowed it to happen? I think you are wrong to say it is because you are female... maybe you should ask your mother.

I think that he doesnt because he doesnt like you (no offense) as why would this matter?

your better off as he sounds like a bad role model if he does this
