it's not necessarily cheaper, but indoor church weddings are out! churches mean tradition, and tradition has kind of gone out the door if you know what i mean (not that i mind). outdoor weddings are also beautiful if the weather is right, not at all like a dark and gloomy church. you have the light from the sun, you could do it on a beach at sunset, or by a river with nice green grass and flowers. to me it sounds more gorgeous than pews and stained glass (although some may like that and there is nothing wrong with it).

Outdoors is so much nicer, that is why. And many people are not religious or not affiliated with any church. So Outdoors is a prettier choice than just a hall or something.
I guess outdoor weddings can be expensive, but it all comes down to your planning too, because some indoor weddings cost an absolute fortune too. Some people spend 10,000 on their flowers alone!!! It all depends on your budget and how clever you are at budgeting and getting the most for your money.
I think the only downside to an outdoor wedding is that you have to have an alternate venue for in case the weather is mean to you.

Mine was outdoors at a park with a gazebo. Some aspects were cheaper, others cost a bit more. For example, a church would have automatic seating; on the other hand, I had to pay for seating for our guests outdoors.
Also, pure light also helps the pictures come out much clearer. Indoors tend to create darker images.

outdoor can be very expensive, especially if you pick a botanical garden or landscaped park. the rental fee is quite high. to cut costs, marry at a fancy botanical garden on a thursday night or a sunday. morning weddings and weddings during the week will be 50% than a friday or saturday night at the same location. i got married at a conservatory, and it was gorgeous. a conservatory is a glass building (completely glass) and it is usually filled with flowers and greenery. this cuts down on the cost of you guys having to buy flowers, plus you get the feel of being outdoors without having to worry about rain or cold/heat. check out the link for a look at our place. your city probably has one.

The cost of a wedding all depends on where you hold the reception. You can have an outside affair equivalent to an indoor one, for the same cost.
Just b/c it's outside, does not mean you use less of a rented space. You still have to pay a fee for use of the spot/space, the bathrooms, the catering, etc.

I've been to almost 30 weddings. Only 1 was outdoors. Not all are outdoors. Not sure who told you that. Probably her because she wants one.

some people just don't want the whole church thing. I got married outdoors and it was beautiful, right next to a lake, the weather was perfect. pray for good weather, always have a back up plan.
