The tech did not check the paperwork to see he had already had a rabies vaccine and vaccinated him again-although they said they were not going to charge me, I am afraid of longterm side effects of such a vaccine given within 30 days of each other. Can anyone help me out? I have found information on vaccines being good for 3 years and not needing them once a year, but nothing on 2 vaccines within 30 days. Thanks in advance.

I'm sure it shouldnt be too much to worry about. If there was a risk of side effects the vet would have made sure that your golden retreiver had had one earlier.
I have a golden retreiever puppy myself. He's 6 months!! Arn't they just the best!!
Best of luck with your puppy i'm sure there isnt anything to worry about. Give the vet a call if you're concerned there's nothign wrong with being sure.

There is always a risk of a bad reaction to a vaccination but its generally very low ( I think 100s of tousands to 1) It becomes higher with a second, of course, but well not THAT much. Chances are very good that nothing will happen.

Your pet will be fine and not exprience any side effects other than having a great antibody titer against rabies. Don't worry.

your pup should be fine. look at it his way...dogs that are brought into rescue usually do not come with vaccination history. so a lot of times they might be double vaccinated. if you are concerned though talk to your vet directly, or talk to another vet.
