I've noticed alot of unique personalities in R&S and I wonder how many of them are a reflection of the real person behind the avatar. This forum makes it too easy to pretened to be someone you are not. Do you come to R&S and show your authentic self? Do you hide behind humor, sarcasm, or anything else? When discusing religion and spirituality do you do it with your complete self and soul or just with your emotions or needs? And finally, If you do pretend you are someone/something else than what you really are in this forum, how do you hope to get anything worthwhile out of it?

I don't pretend at all. Although I do place emphasis on what is relevant within my personality. Relevant to the question and answer, that is.
After all, when I am here, I am in R&S 90% of the time. When I'm not, I don't constantly talk about religion, nor do I constantly go round hugging everyone. But it is still me, this is still a true representation of me (okay the AVATAR isn't, obviously. lol).
Only it is a true representation more of my views, and how they apply throughout life, as opposed to a view of my everyday life.
In short: It is who I am, not what I do.
Although I doubt that pretending to be me could be all a bad thing. I give a message of peace and love. If I didn't, I wouldn't be me. So someone pretending (convincingly) to be me would only succeed in spreading exactly the same message, and therefore not cause any harm.
And yes, I do like to venture out and change the focus every now and then. I do have another account, which I use to focus on my comedy side. This is important to me, because to combine the two might mean that others *may* not take my serious account so seriously, which is adverse to my aim.
Example:
If in one answer, I have spent a long time showing true compassion and love, then in the next answer I'm (playfully) flaming someone, it can create confusion.
It's all in the mood. Everybody has days when they are not feeling as loving as on other days. For me, that's a day when I crack open the joke account.
Very thought-provoking question, worthy of 5 stars, and perhaps the best one I've read in a while

I agree with you asker- although i don't see any harm in a little humor here and there (i'm like this in real life btw)- plus varying degrees of ignorance are tolerable-if not expected.
However mockery and disregard turn the forum into a joke....a bad one at that.
I can't help but think though that these people are like this in real life...

You are speaking the the true Nikki. TO be honest I am really striving to be Like Christ. No play.
All my life I wanted to stay out of trouble. Even people around me were doing wrong, but I didnt follow, although my mother thought I was weak and did everything people told me to do, but the truth is She didnt even know me. I am a very giving person, but I know when people are trying to take advantage of me. I really dont like it when they try to do that.
I really hate to lie. So I try to be honest all the time.

No, I've never wished to be someone else. I do often wish to be a better version of myself, though.
And I am who I am. Here, at a party, at work, wherever. I don't have the patience or desire to maintain a facade.

I am me .. this is who I am
I dont see the point of trying to be someone else when it is anonymous anyway
we can be who we are without fear of being judged face to face
that doesn't happen often in life

i do have to admit that once in a while i hide my emotions in my sarcasm.
