What could be examples of those reasons?

WOW!! 19 answers in five minutes! Where are you guys, when I really have a question?

I asked this because I've seen so many people stating that "fact". I just wanted to know what those think of it.

Everard: I am not ashamed of admiting I am an ignorant. But most of the people here took this question as if I had asked "Why are YOU, atheist, mad at God?". If you can read, the question is directed to people who think that nonsense... and so far only one (who got a lot of thumbs down) answered.
I hope your ignorance allows you to see the difference.

I just think they want to be their own bosses. It's a lot easier to believe this is all there is. Then you don't need an excuse for your behaviour towards mankind.

Spirituality involves self assessment, attempt to follow a moral life, live within certain disciplines. But that may be the reason, it takes discipline to do that and most people today don't want to be controlled by anyone or anything. Then they can go to sleep with a clear conscience because it really is devoid of any.

Most people who are atheists have big chips on their shoulder cause mommy and daddy didn't love them. There is the problem right there.

It's so easy to push their buttons too. Nyuk Nyuk Nyuk.

Don't worry you'll die and become maggot food and be soon forgot, so don't worry your silly little heads off. You can go blah. blah. blah. all you want....who really cares?

God doesn't exist.
Being "mad at God" would be EXACTLY the same as being mad at Zeus, Santa, Thor, or any one or more of the other thousands of imaginary beings who have never existed in human mythology.

Why do True Believers™ find this hurdle of understanding so high and hard to get over?

What makes you suddenly decide that THIS one really, really does exist?
Better salesmen, I guess, and more FEAR and threat of retribution and punishment if you don't suck up to the invisible man.
FEAR is the most powerful weapon; the ultimate persuader.

[edit]
"I asked this because I've seen so many people stating that "fact"."
That would be an outright lie based in ignorance or evil intentions - I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and think it's just your ignorance.

NO atheist will ever say he hates god although he may hate the idea or concept of god because it is a leech in society or that so many evil things have been done in the name of your invisible man.

This is like asking if Christians are mad at Krishna or Buddha for some reason. Or for that matter, if teenagers are mad at Freddy Krueger for killing people.

And this argument that "atheists just don't want to be held accountable" is completely ridiculous. As an atheist, I know that *I* am ultimately the one responsible for my own actions. Are Christians saying that the ONLY thing keeping themselves from raping and stealing, is belief in a deity? What about self-responsiblity, or just one's simple duty as a responsible citizen?

I think most atheists on here anyway, are mad with Christians. This may not be the main reason they don't believe in God, but most of them had bad experiences at some point. All my friends who are atheists have had something in their past that helped push them in that direction, from overbearing Christian parents to confrontational and judgemental Christians. So remember Christians, you are responsible for alot of this. Why can;t we just make more of an effort to be nicer and turn the other cheek when we are insulted or just laugh back. God has a sense of humor you know.

LOL.....you can't be mad at something you don't believe exists.

This maybe hard to understand but "God" is a non-issue for us....it's not something we think about or focus on.

Just for the record I'm a very happy camper and I'm not mad at anyone.

That’s something we’d commonly hear in the spanish section, right? I’m glad it seems like a different story in here (at least when it comes to that particular question).

I'm mad he doesn't exist and intervene with how PEOPLE corupt and brainwash the masses with this dogma. Religion spreads such hatred, when it was invented it made people have a moral standard, but that moral standard came at such a price of people's happiness and liberty.

Sorry mate. I don't hate God, and I'm not angry at God...how and why would I be mad at something that I do not believe in? Are you mad at Vishnu? How about Santa Clause?

Atheists aren't mad at something that does not exist.

No, we are not "angry at God". Atheists don't believe your god even exists. There's nothing to be mad AT.

The followers, however, are another story. No small number of theists of various stripes have managed to anger me pretty good.

I don't hate God, just like I don't hate Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy or the Easter Bunny...

I just don't believe in any of them....there's a difference.....
