It could be several weeks before you get any letters or phone calls from him. And when you do, don't be surprised if they are ultra brief. He's goin to be really busy with training, and won't have a lot of down time, if he gets any at all.
The only way I could tell you to cope, is to write him letters. Military troops, even in training, love getting mail. It's a real moral booster. It will help you to write him, plus it will help him to hear from you.

No communication for the first 8 weeks.
Sorry. It's how they break the recruits down and then build them back up.

Don't worry about always being in contact with him
Find people online or in your community that are also dealing with this. Talk with them about your problems.
