black tie normally means formal attire such as a tuxedo with dicky bow (black tie).
But now days you will get away with any suit and tie, its present day meaning is more like ...... Not casual.

If the dress code states black tie then I presume it is all day, unless you've only been invited to the evening do. Most people wear a tux to a black tie do. It sounds like it's going to be a pretty smart looking wedding.

Have a lovely time anyway.

Black tie wedding. the correct dress for the ceremony and reception is morning dress. ( I'd check with the family in case they mean a lounge suit.) For the evening if black tie a dinner jacket White tie is full evening dress

Unless there is a major gap between the wedding and the reception and you have time to change I would just wear the formal outfit to the ceremony as well.

most people usually wear the same for both parts of the wedding. you certainly need to be wearing something smart for the ceremony so you might as well wear the same thing

you can wear it to the church . most of the time men will wear the tux to the church and women will where a less fancy dress to the church and change for the reception. It depends on how much time between the two and if you have a place to change. say if your close to home. But... you don't have to change,do your own thing. have fun
