I have a 6 month old mini schnauzer. She is the best dog I have ever owned. Fully trained to sit ..stay ..lay down. All by the age of six months!!!

It may not be the best dog in the world. But I will tell you my Schnauzer is the best most loyal, trainable dog I have ever owned. I hated dogs before him. They were nothing more then just a pain in the a s s. Well that is because everyone around me always own labs or retrievers and told me that they were great dogs. So i figured hell if this is the best breed dog family offers. Then I never want one. But my schnauzer has taught me, that you need to go out and do your research, because 90% of dog owners have no clue. Now when i see a person with a lab or a retrieve, I know they know absolutely nothing other wise they would own a schnauzer. This 23 lb dog goes for 4-5 mile runs with me. Is a great swimmer. As for skin problems it all about diet. The breed does not do well on a high wheat or corn diet. They actual get allegies to it. I have seen it. The breed should not shed. I see a lot of schnauzers that do. They are not healthy. The only negative about this breed, is they want to be the boss. You can't show weakness, or they will try to tell you what they want.

Not really. i think they are sort of snippy little dogs. They also tend to have a lot of skin problems. I would not own one.
