Do you think it would be possible to override the law (I'm assuming there is one) and have my body burnt on a pyre? I mean, Jews, after all, are not required to be embalmed although it is a law.

Cremation? No, you get put in a oven and burnt up. I'm more interested in sometime more - open. I thought of the viking ship, but I'm not a water lover and I figure I've not lived the life of a viking - lots of travel finding new lands and wealth.

There's a new thing called a "Green Burial" where you put in a simple box without all the cement surroundings (I think even without preservation).

You can try. For me, cremation is enough. The context stays the same, the intention is the same. Human "waste" is a biohazard and has to be contained after death, so I don't see open cremation happening myself.

That would be called cremation and it's done every day.
