I consider myself robust and HEALTHY.

I'm 5'10, 133 lbs, and for my age (18) that's the upper-range of a normal weight (of couse 30 year old women will weigh more, esp. if they have kids).

But everyone comments on how I look "skinny", and more than one person compared me to Paris Hilton (yuck!).

I don't get it. As a society, are our standards so skewed that now, overweight is the norm?

Any other normal-weight people with the same problem? How does this reflect on our emerging lipidophilic (I invented that word) culture?

Don't worry about my exact weight. The point is that I have a healthy BMI, and it's annoying to be pestered when there's really no problem.

Probably because 133 pounds is NOT the upper-range of a normal weight for someone who is 5'10" tall. Here's a weight chart:

http://www.weightwatchers.com/health/asm/calc_healthyweight.aspx

You'll notice that the minimum healthy weight for someone who is 18 and 5'10" is 139 pounds. So 133 is definitely not on the upper-range of healthy. Before you start commenting on other people's standards, you might want to do your research.

Our society is obsessed with body image. There should be no norm, there shouldn't be pressure to be thin. But there also should not be discrimination for being overweight. Too many people are concerned by how others view their body. Just make your body what you want to see. If you are happy and healthy with an average weight, that should be just fine. But if someone is content with being overweight and curvy, that should be just as acceptable. I am so bothered by the constant "requirements" for our bodies.

No, no. someone my size could be young at 133 being a good weight. I'm under 5'4". And yes, being overweight is normal, in the sense that normal is what the majority of people are. Well, hey, atleast you're not bragging of how you're tall and 95 pounds.

You are by no means underweight, just a nice, average, look svelte weight.

And yes, it is an epidemic in the US that people choose to watch TV instead of playing outside or taking walks. They also prefer to eat foods that have been prepared by companies that know that taste is everything. High calories, high fat is okay so long as your product tastes good.

Overweight isn't the norm, because a healthy individual shouldn't be over-weight. But common, yes. It's very common to meet US people who suffer from obesity. So sad.

Where the hell did you get that info? 133 lbs for someone that is 5'10'' is LOWER RANGE. Stop seeking attention, you know you're skinny.

FYI, being overweight is bad but so is being underweight. People should draw attention to both because both are physically and mentally unhealthy.
