Certainly not while working!
Many agencies will not hire for other reasons to include visible tattoos and smoking!

This wouldn't
be desirable in an officer for a bunch of reasons. It looks unprofessional is high on that list (actually, a lot of people won't hire you with facial piercings, so think hard about repeating the phrase "soy or skim?" 10,000 times a day before you do it).
The other reason it is really undesirable is simply that if you are in a fight, the less someone has to grab onto, the better off you are. That's why EMTs wear snap ties.

Probably not.
However, it would depend on the dress code and appearance policy of the department you wish to work for. A good example is having tattoos showing while you are on duty. Some departments have issued a policy indicating this is strictly prohibited, and others have not touched the issue.
But for piercings like the one you are describing, I am not aware of any department (at least in California) that allows that. Some departments are very strict to the point that you can only have one piercing per ear with earings being limited to a certain size and not dangling.
There are also safety issues concerning piercings also(i.e. snagging it or having them ripped off of you.
Basically, all departments strive to have a clean cut/neat and professional appearance for their officers.

NO,
They are supposed to be setting the example plus in a fight it is totally dangerous. Do it now and enjoy it for a while.

Some small departments will allow it. But in an altercation they can be ripped out.
