Capitol punishment is the death penalty and it keeps the person executed from committing any other crimes, so in that way it works.

I think it's very effective. But it should ONLY be used for murder.
Look at it like this... society in general can handle the risk of setting a convict free after serving his time if this person was sentenced to prison for grand theft auto. If he steals a car again, it will be a hassle for the victim dealing with the cops, insurance, etc. Eventually, however, things will get sorted out.

If a man commits murder, however, you risk having him commit more murders when he is let out. Society can't recover from that as easily, and many people's lives will be ruined, society will lose money (less tax income, etc).

I remember some old Speaker of the House wanting marijuana smugglers who were caught on a second offense to receive the capital punishment. Wacko.

Capital Punishment:

The penalty of death for the commission of a crime.

There are pro and con advocates for and against!

One thing is for sure...one punished in this manner never becomes a repeat offender against society again!

A person who had been sentence to death for murdering innocent people will never kill innocent people ever again, when he/she is put to death. Unfortunately because of our legal system the death sentence takes too long to be carried out!
