If someone was in the Army 12 years ago and has an RE code of 3, (medical discharge in lieu of court martial) what does that mean if this person wants to now join the Navy reserves?

Here;s some more of the back story on this: It's not me. The man in question entered the army straight out of high school as a dumb kid and realized too late he made huge mistake and compounded thatmistake by going awol. It's terrible I know. He knows it too. It has haunted him ever since and now he wants to make it right. It isn't as though he was caught stealing or anything it's just that he was a young and dumb kid at the time and now wants to make it right.

I am not sure about the court marshall part but if on your DD 214 it says honorable- medical, you can not re-join.

I was medically discharged in 2005 and I was told by a reserve recruiter that I could not rejoin (it was mandatory that I talk to him before seperation.)

I can't be positive about the Navy, but that person would no longer be welcome in the Army. In order to get a "discharge in lieu of court martial" that person would have had to admit guilt so there would be no disputing it either.

not gonna happen in the Navy. Army Guard or reserves Might. Nobody else will give you the time of day.

You have to indicate what the inlieu of courtmartial was first. Otherwise I do not think the reserve would take you.
