If you have a crackling sound, it may mean that your speakers are blown. You may want to invest in replacement speakers before you replace the stereo.
If you have the cash, get all of it replaced. Don't go all out with the stereo, and you will not spend an awful amount of money.
Good luck.

If your Camry still has the original speakers, then it's likely that the speaker surrounds have rotted out. There aren't many Toyotas that age with speakers that are still in good condition, and a speaker without a surround would produce plenty of rattling and cracking and not much bass.
My guess is that you'll need to replace your speakers, as well as (or instead of) the radio.

It could occur with the new deck if the speakers are blown out in the doors/rear deck, or perhaps the car has a factory amplifier that has gone bad. Odds are it's just the head unit gone bad though and you should be able to remedy this problem with an aftermarket deck.

ok since you drive your moms car im pretty sure she drives it most of the time too so i would just go to walmart and get some cheap speakers this way if it isnt the speakers then you wouldnt of spend that much money so youll just change the stereo so its up to you but im pretty sure it is the speakers so if the crackling is with the radio and cd then it is but if its just with the radio it could juct be your antenna lol good luck

what i would do is first replace the speakers because most likely your speakers are blown. and if you still have the problem you can buy a whole new head unit, and even if its not your speakers if your geting an aftermarket head unit i would reccomend getting aftermarket speakers also because alot of stock speakers cant handle the amount of power aftermarket head units put out.

You should bring it to a local audio shop and let a pro check it out. Be right there when they do so that they do not try stringing you along and talking you into something that is not needed. So go to a reputable shop. Then just replace what is needed to be replaced.
