I have been constipated for at least 3 weeks. I have tried fiber laxatives, elax, and even tried store bought enemas. But nothing seems to work. Can someone tell me how to get quick relief?

try glycerin suppositories, purchased at any pharmacy. If this does not work immediately see your medical doctor.

MIRALAX is finally out in drug stores. That's what you need. However, it's quite expensive, and much cheaper to get a prescription from a doctor. That's a MUST. It's like Metmucil, but way better. 1 TABLESPOON in water every morning.
WALK. You must a walk (or swim) every day. Work gradually up to at least 45 minutes a day. Take a good brisk walk, and enjoy the scenery.
Eat a Hi-Fiber cereal every morning. Trader Joe's has a great selection, if you're lucky enough to have that store where you live. They do sell Kashi Go Lean at Super WalMarts and Target carrys it too. It has 10 grams of fiber! Eat it every morning. I don't drink milk, so I have a big bowl with water on the side. It's delicious!
Eat 1-3 apples a day WITH the skin. Also pears and bananas. Canteloupe and strawberries when in season.
DRINK LOTS OF WATER!!!! The more the better.
VEGGIES! I love frozen peas. Eat salads with dark leafy vegetables. (Not iceburg lettuce. Romaine or Spinach.) I make a lot of cole slaw. (I buy the cabbage already chopped, add mayo, lemon juice , Equal, and pepper. You can't ruin it. It's great with raisins.) Any veggies are great. Carrots, broccoli, etc.
Baked Beans every day is a must. Not much. About 3 heaping tablespoons. Trader Joe's has the best in a red can.

I'm on a bunch of meds that all cause constipation. I was like you. But I follow everything I told you. Oh, I forgot. Take one generic stool stoftener every day. It's harmless, and you can find them at any drug store. (Stool softener is ducosate sodium) Start the water immediately! Eat a big bowl of mixed fruit salad tonight. Try to take an evening stroll. I'm telling you, hon, if I can go almost every day, ANYONE CAN!! Good luck to you. I wish you the very best. I know how crappy it is not to crap!! Sincerely, Lynn :)

Are you eating/eating properly? Eating a high fiber diet on a regular basis should stop any constipation. Fruits, veggies and whole grains should work (be sure the ingredient list says whole grain or else it isn't). A good way to see if you are eating properly is simply by looking at your food, if it is all different shades of brown instead of multi coloured (greens reds, yellows etc.) it is probably very low in fiber/health.

Water is also very important in aiding constipation. Make sure you are drinking regular water, not flavoured. Alot of the flavoured water has aspartame which can cause constipation.

If you are having no luck I would recommend seeing a doctor/going to a clinic as alot of other problems can arise from being constipated.

Hope you feel better

Wait. Have you not pooped for 3 weeks?

If what you're saying is that you haven't pooped for 3 weeks, you are in danger and you should call the doctor.

If you are just having very few bowel movements, then I would say to get some exercise, that will probably help a lot. It could be attributable to a medication you're on, or something else. I don't have enough info to guess why it's happening. Has this happened before?

Try eating 10 to 20 oranges, 20 to 30 mandarins or 40 to 50 prunes a day for a few days.

If the Enema doesnt work... you need to go to the Hospital! They have payment plans if you cant afford it (Not saying you cant, just only the only logical excuse i can come up with for not going to the hospital after not having relief for over a week, let alone 3)

i agree with the dannon stuff, it is good for maintaining regular regularity. but you sound like you need something more immediate. dried apricots, usually the cheaper brand works better (not sure if it is food poising that does it) and the chicken strips from sonic always get me to go. soft serve from dairy queen used to do the trick too. tobacco/nicotine has some laxitive properties.

also try to 'massage' your belly button area. that can get stuff to move. like a circular rubbing.

but if youve been waiting for 3 weeks, id call your doc or at least ask your pharmacist. thats more then just a regular up/down or your cycle.

I too have this problem, I started the blood type diet and because I am type O, found that I don't digest wheat very well and the wheat acts like a glue in my intestines.. So I cut out wheat and I am regular( everyday). I also drink plenty of water and Slippery Elm tea... you can find this at the supermarket in the herbal tea area.

Good luck

The quickest way once you're in an "emergency concern" is to apply an enema, for the reason that each thing via mouth would take plenty greater time to artwork ... For the destiny, you will greater useful keep away from circumstances like this via eating a great number of water, eating greater nutritional fiber and training typical actual acitivity
