i heard that keeping a new ear ring in after getting it pierced is just so the hole wont close. so does this mean that i can switch the ear rings daily after two weeks and still allow the hole to heal? does the actual ear ring have anything to do with the healing process or is it just to keep the hole from closing?

The earring's main purpose is to keep your piercing open. The body can heal a piercing in a very short period. My nostril piercing closed after 10 minutes without a stud in it - It was super painful to reopen the piercing.

But it's not just about keeping the piercing open. You need to leave your piercing in because the act of moving your piercing and taking it out and putting it back in is very traumatic for your body. If you keep on messing with your piercing, not only will it most likely close, but you'll end up with a keloid scar, which are really ugly and can get so big that you'll need surgery to remove them.

Keep the earring in your ear. Follow your piercers advice by cleaning once a day with warm water and soap. Don't touch it anymore than you have to. Once it's healed, you can change the earring.

The ear ring keeps the hole open. The longer you leave it out the more likely it is to heal over. Even if youve had them in for a while.

It takes 6 weeks for the hole to heal properly. The stud you get is wider to allow for a decent sized hole. If you let it heal with a skinny-backed earring in, the hole will be crappy and opening it up will be a pain in the ****. Also, if you keep messing with it, it'll go funny and you'll mess up the piercing.

Ya, it keeps the hole from closing up. You shouldn't switch it around because the rod on the pierced earring is usually larger than an average earring rod (in order to ensure that the hole stays open). Also the earring that was newly placed is hypo-allergenic, which should help prevent infections.

The earring you hae in is not your usual earring. It is alot wider and has a step in it to stop the buterfly back from being removed easily. It is also made from surgical steel. It serves a purpose. If you change it afer a fe weeks it probably on't heal, trust me I'm talking from experience here. Say you put it a nice wee thing and you don't realise its nickel it could knacker up your piercing. Not to mention the sheer agony you will go through trying to take it out! If your so desperate to change it you should have chosen a deiffernt style on the day. Sorry.

You need to keep some earring in, and the reason you're supposed to keep the one in that they used is because it's made of surgical steel, and is less likely to irritate your skin. Also, if you'll notice, the post is thicker than on regular earrings, which keeps the hole bigger. Keep them in--Even after I had had pierced ears for years, I stopped wearing earrings and they grew shut.

The actual earring has nothing to do with the healing process, but it is wise and a good idea to have a pure gold / sterling silver one in for about 3 months without changing it.

it is actually so the hole wont close... but they tell you to keep them in till the piercing is healed because they know that one is clean and sanitized..... i changed my ear rings after a week and they are fine and i got them done 9 years ago... so yeah just keep cleaning them and turning them make sure when you change your ear rings that you clean the ones you are putting in with the cleaner or alcolhol

If you have recently went from a low to high pressure, or vice-versa, it can cause your ears to pop and therefore cause your ears to ring. happens when you are flying, driving through the mountains, stuff like that
