I note that none of the christian responses to your question even attempts to answer it. They all ignore your question and recite various pieces of Christian doctrine.
What they don't want to address is that if we take the whole story as true, he must have known he was coming back in 3 days. So his sacrifice was equivalent to agreeing to go into a 3 day coma. (Didn't he hang out in heaven for those days? If so, then even those 3 days are hardly a sacrifice).
Fact is, according to the Christian narrative, he made no significant sacrifice at all.

If you don't believe in Christianity, it seems that this is illogical. And it is. But it is no more or less illogical than the whole idea of religion!
Personally I think it is a great pity that so many others have died for their beliefs and religions, especially considering that what I believe is that death is probably the end. The idea of the afterlife is there to comfort believers but just because something seems comforting doesnt mean theres any truth in it.
All religious sacrifice is in my opinion in vain. Including the death of Christ I suppose.
And no, I dont believe he came back from the dead so how can I answer a question on how big a sacrifice that was?

The death and resurrection was not where our sins were paid for -- that was done by the atonement which began in Gethsemane and continued on the cross. The great sacrifice was the Atonement which was far beyond the ability of mortal man to fulfill, which was why God the Father was the Savior's Earthly Father, so that Christ was not only mortal, but also the literal son of God. Those who have died for Christ are martyrs -- and they shall have their reward in heaven. But they died defending their testimonies that Christ was the Savior of the world. They did not suffer to the point of death for the sins of the world. There is a world of difference.
His resurrection conquered death and allows all men to do likewise.

Not "If.." but rather "Since..." The reason His sacrifice was greater is that A) He was perfect. Having committed no sin He alone was able to be a perfect atonement sacrifice for sin. B) No man took His life from Him, He gave it. C) Not only so, but He took His life back. Now, had He just died as a sacrifice for sin, then we could die and just be dead free from sin. But He also rose again from the dead. So then, through His sacrifice, a perfect and eternal sacrifice for sin, we can have both redemption from sin and life eternal with Him. Both His giving His life and His resurrection were accomplished by His own authority over life. No other person who has died in the name of their religion, including Christianity, has that authority. Only Jesus did and does. He IS THE WAY, He IS THE TRUTH, and He IS THE LIFE. There is no other way to see a gainful afterlife but through Him.

You really really need to read the Bible or hear what the Gospel is.
Jesus died for the crimes of others.
Jesus died as a person who had NEVER EVER transgressed God's Perfect Law.
Jesus died as a sacrifice for the crimes of Man.
Jesus Christ was not a martyr.
Jesus Christ said:
- you do not accept me because you hate the light of the truth
- you do not accept me because you do not have the word of truth even though you search the scriptures
- if you will not accept what was written about me, then how will you accept what I say about myself?

Jesus raised Himself from the dead in order to prove once and for all time that He truly is who He claimed to be, the very Son of God.
I think that makes all the difference in the world, and - as you pointed out - all the others who have died for their believes have NOT come back - they are still dead!

Smile.
They did.
When you do too, then you will know.
Till then, reexamine who said they WOULD be resurrected and were as compared to those who said they would be and did not.
Back from the dead is easy, Saul found that one out and it cost him when he consulted with the witch at endor, but thats another story and NO ONE who spoke from the dead has come back to life, resurrected except Jesus,
But you see,
But if you really examine all he said, you will see where the dead are and where He went and waht he did when he got there.
Let me know when you find out, you may be surprised.
Benjamin Franklin Christian
He said he would. He then did it.

because Jesus was the only man to have never once sinned in his life. no one imperfect can ever die for man who is imperfect. only the one who is perfect. this proves that though Jesus was 100% human (that he could bleed and die) he was also 100% divine. the son of GOD. And in that dying he took upon himself all the sins of the world. he allowed himself to be a curse to take away ours. do you know the Gospel? if not you should really learn it. the reason he came to earth at all was to save mankind from hell and reconcile everything to God. Like it was in the beginning.

Jesus is the Creator Aspect of God Himself. Worth considerably more than all of us put together. The Resurrection wasn't part of the sacrifice, it was proof that the Sacrifice was accepted.

No one's sacrifice was greater, and His resurrection from the dead was to prove He was who He claimed to be, and that all will be resurrected because He is the resurrection.
