AD (Anno Domini) means after Christ. BC means before Christ came to earth. BCE and CE are merely politically correct classifications of time dreamed up to pacify those who don't believe in Christ. They have no real meaning. AD and BC are the only ones that count.

BC is before Christ. I can never remember what AD stands for. So you could say it is the year of our Lord 2007.

Anno Domini (in the year of our lord) and Before Christ. They have to do with the time associated with the mythical Jesus' birth (since there was no actual birth or death). The Muslims are 622 years different, basing their calender on the trip Muhammad made to Medina.

AD stands for Annum Dei (God's year--often translated as"in the year of Our Lord, I think) BC, I think means "before Christ," but I'm not sure I'm completely correct on this. Now it is more proper to use the terms BCE --"before the common era" and CE "common era."
