okay so i'm putting a new stereo, amp and speakers in my boat and i know i need everything to be marine grade but how many watts is really loud, i'm thinking about 600watts and its MAX is 1500W. i'm thinkin going with this set up:

SUB: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=017&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=270176412143&rd=1

4 Speakers: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=270176545419&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=017
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=180170463151&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=008

I'd like to know if these speakers are good for what i'm looking for.

I'm wondering if a can just put a non-marine AMP in the boat if its covered up?

I already have the stereo its a sony and only rated for 52w X 4 but that doesnt matter if i buy an amp right?

thanks

The sub is only 200 watts RMS. Ideally you want to match the RMS of speakers/subs with an amp. The enclosure the sub goes in is also important.

well to be honest i really wouldnt recomend you puting a non marine system on a boat cuz i dont know if the moisture will be able to go in or not so check that out first now for the amp it really will blow if the amp you get is 600 watts rms that you want to get and as for the speakers try to get some speaker that can run at the same rms as the amp those kenwoods are 80 rms so if you put iton an amp then you might blow those the polk audio are 100 so it all depends on what amp you get if you go for the polk audio then get the other ones that can run on 100 rms too other wise you will run the risk of blowing them hope this was helpful to you good luck

i would not reccomend getting sony. Kicker makes GREAT marine audio products.

try going onto sonicelectronics.com they have kicker marine audio prodects for very cheap i would reccoment geting 2 kicker 10" marine subwoofers they are 175 watts RMS and 350 watts peak each.

i would also reccomend getting 2 pairs of kicker speakers and a kicker amp.

all that wont even cost you $400 and it will sound GREAT

No matter how many watts you put its not going to sound extremely loud to much open space unless it's enclosed inside the boat

It'll work until some bubba trying to fish decides to take his shotgun to your noisemaker. Global warming is nothing compared to noise pollution.

52w X 4 is not enough IMO. Add an amplifier to get "loud".

Probably not...but when you do find the loudest stereo system just make sure you can afford to pay for the hospital bills for your ruptured ear drum. :-)
