Do people who stutter know they are doing so? In other words, are they fully aware of how they sound, how long they are stuck on a sound, or how long they are unable to vocalize? I just meet a new person at work that stutters and trying to understand the condition more in order to understand him and/or his needs, if he has any. I have never known a person who stutters, even slightly. This is new to me. Should I just let him work through speech or is it acceptable to finish a thought or say "Take your time" or anything like that. He is a smart guy and pleasant to work with.
