I guess it supposed to stop people thrashing/screwing the engine. I think its a bit pointless actually as it will more than likely mean the driver is going to take the revs to the max in every gear to get as much out of it as possible.
The works vans of my old company were limited to about the same speed and all the guy's I saw driving them were taking the revs up to the max all the time, but being a mechanic I knew just what to do,just take up all the slack in the throttle cable as much a you can only leaving a little so it don't over rev,but don't forget to put it back the way it was. Assuming it has a throttle cable that is.

Lorries are restricted to 56mph.

65mph is faster than 56mph, so lorries won't be going faster than you (unless they are from Eire and have disabled the speed limiter...).

often these vehicles and works transits (50mph) have limiters on them because different people drive them.
If a speed limit is exceed there are grounds for not actually fining the driver as it could be anyone driving it.
So (not sure bout last bit here) but company owning vehicle could be fined

Because its classed as a bus by law they have to be limited. Enjoy your long boring journey, drink plenty coffee and have some metallica blasting to keep you awake.

unfortunatly youve been unlucky as older models may not be limited yet you must have a newish model most trucks are limited to 56mph so it will be only the irish trucks getting past you goodluck.
