It depends on how attractive they are. I use cute sometimes but usually I say fine, or sexy. Cute is more for the attractive, nice sweet guy, fine and sexy are for the guys that turn you on by looking at them.

I call my boyfriend handsome. (My mother says he's cute because he has a baby face and looks younger than he is.) Cute is a "nice" term (used for friends or crushes) while hot is a "naughty" term (used for a guy you want to sleep with).

you can call them either one.. to me, though, calling a guy cute means that he is "baby cute" which isnt someone that id be interested in dating
