I met a family friend at a party on Saturday night who gave me his card and told me to call him about a job position they have available. Is it too early to call about this today? Should I wait one more day until tomorrow?

You should call right away. Never give an opportunity for someone else to come along and seem more eager or interested in the position than you. Call, what are you waiting on?

If I know when the "cut off" date is for the hiring/interview process, I usually follow up the day after that. If I don't know or it's open ended, I follow up within a business week.
