One of the greatest things, for me, about going to church, is that I get to spend time with other believers and we are able to encourage and strengthen each other. There's this great encouragement loop and it's probably the coolest thing I can imagine. If you're in the right church, going can help you to become a better Christian; you have people there to lean on in times of trouble and you learn to be there so that people can lean on you; if your church is socially responsible, that can get you involved in that as well; if your church is strong on education and training as mine is, you learn more about your responsibilities as a Christian and are encouraged to follow through on them. That being said, churches are only as good as the people who go to them and the pastor that leads them!

There are opportunities to be at our church for something or other throughout the week, so that's pretty cool. We have service on Sunday (one at 8am, one at 11pm); we sing, pray, hear the message and take up two offerings (one for our outreach and one to fund the running of the church), we have a fellowship hour afterward. Wednesdays I go to Bible study, we also have one on Thursday mornings. Friday, I go to choir rehearsal. We have meetings, etc on other days, but they aren't always an every week thing. My church places a strong emphasis on the Bible.

There are several reasons,
1. As a Catholic, it is a requirement to go at least once a year. I attend Mass weekly and sometimes attnd weekday masses if my schedule permits.
2. To hear the Word of God proclaimed through the Liturgy, through the readings, and through the homily.
3. To receive the body, blood, soul, and divinity of Jesus Christ through the Eucharist.
4. I place a very high importance on going to Mass weekly.
5. Yes, going to Church makes you a better Christian. I have found that corporate worship strengthens the soul, especially when it is the Mass but also in prayer services.
6. My church is a feast for the eyes and soul.
7. They place a very high emphasis on the Bible in my church. If you attend Sunday mass for 3 years, you will have almost the entire New Testament and most of the Old Testament read to you, and the pastor's homilies are expected to be drawn from the sunday readings. Not only that, it has developed some prayer practices over the last several hundred years that are themselves solidly biblical, such as the Rosary, the Jesus Prayer, and the Liturgy of the Hours / Breviary.

For fellowship. To develop friendship with like minded people and share experiences and grow. Also, it is a central hub for communications and co-ordinating community service events.

Does going to church make for a better Christian? You get out of it what you put into it!

To be honest, most of my church experiences have been negative. If it weren't for the fact that I can separate the church from the religion, who knows where I would be at this time.

"How much emphasis do they place on the bible...?" So far, the last 3 churches I have attended have the bible at the center of everything. If not for it, nothing else would stand.

The importance on attending to church to me is so that I do not become weak in the spirit. Church motivates me to stay on task...read the Bible, pray, study, and fast. I'm always happy in church and can't wait to see the next thing the Holy Spirit will do in people's lives, families, and even in my own heart. I feel church makes me a better Christian...as mentioned before...it keeps me close to Jesus. My church starts with everybody praying. Then one person will grab the microphone and begin praying. Then everybody is asked to stand so that we may read a chapter from the Bible. We then sing about 5-6 songs (1/2 slow & 1/2 fast) to praised & worship God. We then pray for the offerings & tithes. Then the person preaches. We have an altar call afterwards. We sing maybe 1-2 more songs and then pray again. Sometimes afterwards, we all eat together right there in the church just like a family. The Bible is strongly emphasized in our church.

The answer to this is how much importance does the Church place on me attending and Why?

If the Church places a great importance on my being there then the determining factor on why will become evident and that can determine my action.

Each religion in it's own accordance to that religion defines and acts according to the dictates it defines 'Church" as.

Some say it is a universal whole and acts like it.

Some say it is personal, some say it is to feel good, some say it is to heal, some say it is to teach.

The leader or leadership really of the particular church determines the eventual outcome of that church organization, but in a more general way.

One on one with God will make a church.

If after one on one with God HE tells you where to go and what to do and what you will get, you never now waht purpose HE may have for YOU to be there.

God sent Jesus to the BIG Church in Jerusalem,

Why is the Interesting story...,

If God sent Jesus to your church,

the Why might be the Only Story that matters.

Sitting in church makes one no more a Christian than sitting in a garage makes one a car. However, it is important, and this reminds me I should be going more. I only go once every 2-4 weeks, which is not enough. Again, I don't think it's necessesary for one to attend church regularly as a Christian, but in not doing so, one will miss out on a great deal of necessesary fellowship and enlightenment.

When you find the church you are suppose to be in you will know.... My church Greenhill Baptist is a wonderful close knit family church. Non related but they feel like family and they treat you and others like you are. I love the Lord and all he does for me....

It is in the church worship and God comes and meets with his people. God uses the preaching of His word to bring forth the gospel. The church is where God's means of grace are used and without them Christians are greatly weakened.

We seek to attend Church twice on the Lord's day, morning and evening. We sing the psalms of the Bible in worship and treat the preaching as of central importance. We love going to church and praising God's name and learning more about who God is and what we are to believe concerning Him.

When I am in church, I feel lighter, better - and generally like I am within a community. I am there to give "thanks" to God for the blessings He has given me (husband, child, family). I belong to a Catholic church - and it's based on tradition, dogma and faith. We have 2 readings and a gospel reading. Catholics do NOT take literal interpretation of the bible like the protestants do, so there is a difference. We do not think "everyone is going to hell", etc. It's a forgiving religion.

It is important because of the fellowship with brethren. It is great to be on one accord and to worship and praise God. My church loves to have the presence on God dwelling there and the only way is to use the examples of the Bible. If you want to experience the greatness of God then get to a church that loves to worship Him.
