I've had my ostomy for a year and I've avoided those two items except once when I took the casing off a sausage and it was a pain. Can I not eat any meat with casings at all or should I have them few and far between?

hi curtis, I've had my ileostomy for 22 yrs. I eat skinless hot dogs like oscar myer seeing as the skins are hard to digest. As for smoked sausage, I avoid it since it bothers my gut.

Certain foods will affect people differently. It is trial and error.
I have provided link to the united ostomy association of america for you. maybe there is more information to assist you. good luck.

I eat both without a problem. Some foods will affect some people and not others, it's very individual. Try new foods, one at a time and CHEW, CHEW, CHEW! You may be surprised at what you really can eat :)

I think you need to listen to your own body on this one. If you can tolerate it, then good for you, if you can't, be prepared to pay the consequences of trying.
