You sound homesick! Dear old Melbourne is better than ever, with even more cafes, restaurants, art galleries, cinemas, and interesting shops. The enormous new Federation Square gives us an open-air meeting place on a European scale at last. Sadly the W-class trams are not appreciated by the powers that be and are being replaced by ugly, sealed cylinders. How I miss the open air flowing through the old trams, and even more, those precious and sadly departed CONNIES !! [tram conductors] The worst change is that the connies have been replaced by packs of nazis who don't sell tickets but who can legally assault you if you haven't got one! But Melbourne is still marvellous.... Give my love to Italy...

All towns and cities change over time but you don't notice it when you live there. The biggest changes in Melbourne in recent years would be the Docklands developments including the new AFL stadium and the rebuilding of the MCG and the tarting up of the city which were done for the Commonwealth Games.

Federation Square? Mitcham to Frankston Tollway is nearly finished. Some new tram stops in the centre and light grey trams are replacing the smart old green ones.
