I appreciate the answer by one of you but I would like to know has anyone else been diagnosed with fibro and from evoked response test shows that the sheath is not normal? I am in pain 24/7 have been to pain management and they tell me to do yoga. I have been doing this - some positions I can not do it exerbates the pain. They would not give me pain meds because the said after awhile I would just needed something stronger. Each day is a new day for me. My physical activities include yoga, mowing mine and my neighbors yard (with self propelled mower), watching my 1 yr old grandson. It kills me to lift so he walks and climbs alot. I filed for diability last year 10/06 but I hear it takes up to 2 yrs for anything to get done. I am currently on food stamps, I get 12.00 for mowing my neighbors yard. Depression on some days is terrific. I am on Effexor XR..

you are having a rough go just now, but it will change, that is the one certainty in life, nothing stays the same.
yes your myelin sheath deficits could indeed be contributory to your pain.

I'm sorry that you are in such pain. I'd thought that the myelin sheath is what covers nerve cells and didn't know of any rating system of the myelin sheath. I do have fibromyalgia, the chronic diffuse pain, as well as pinched nerves in the neck and back (and have sciatica where the sciatic nerve, the longest nerve in the body, is pinched) area. Water/aqautic therapy (under supervision of physical therapist) helped me in addition to gentle stretching and strengthening exercises provided by PT. Yoga may be too abrasive for someone in so much pain. Those with fibro and arthritis should not generally engage in yoga exercises unless the instructor is well-versed in those disorders and are able to grade the yoga moves down so that one doesn't overexert oneself.

If you are in pain, the mowing may only exacerbate matters and if the disability office asks you about daily tasks and you mention that you can mow lawns albeit self-propelled but still probably walking in the back of and such, even though you have a lot of pain which I certain do believe, they may question your need for disability, know what I mean. What helps my sciatica is glucosamine-chondroiton capsules (caps easier on digestive tract) and I get the Vitamin Shoppe's brand that also has bromelain (substance found in pineapples and supposed to help with inflammation) and quercetin which is an antioxident found in apples and other fruits. The gluc-chondr is supposed to help with the cartilage and joints though there is not scientific proof (though who cares if it helps the person to feel better without causing any harm ;) With the glucosamine, if one has diabetes, they should ask their dr about it first and it's best to check with one's physician anyway before starting any new otc meds or supplements.
