I assure you that the world will not end on December 21, 2012. In the book of Revelation, it tells us about a period of a thousand years of peace. Has this occurred already since the time of Jesus? Not yet. That will still come.
But there is something that is certain—and that is our physical death. It may come when least expected. We do not know the day and the hour. It will come like a thief in the night. So we just have to be prepared all the time. Search for the true God and when we find Him, follow His commandments and remain in Him until our last dying breath.
This is all that we have to do. It is faith in Him that we can take with us when we depart from this world. If we deny Him, He will deny us also before the Father in Heaven. If we know Him and love Him and followed His commandments, then He may reward us to live with Him eternally in His kingdom in Heaven.

People have always made claims of the "end of the world." There have always been predictions, yet still, the world keeps on turning. In the year 999 A.D. people were scared of the coming new millenium thinking it's going to be the end of the world (Europeans of course, the rest of the world had their own special calenders). In 1999 A.D. same scenario was played out again. Makes good business sense to sell more newspapers, advertisements, etc.
As for the year 2012, yes, the Mayan calender terminates, being it's the beginning of another great cycle. If you know your numbers, our number system is base 10....or 10 symbols to make all our numbers. The Mayans use a base 60 system that's incorporated in their circular calender. Their calender ends an entire cycle, which if translated to our modern calender, it's Dec.21st, 2012 A.D. That's really it. Otherwise, their calenders revolve on equinoxes and solstices of our Earth. Nothing shows that there will be an end.
As for the Bible, Revelations predicts the "destruction of the system of things." This does'nt mean the end of the world, just our corrupt system that we're familiar with. Why would God destroy the planet for? It's his creation. We're the ones that are messing it up. Kind of like having bad tenants tearing up your house. Would you destroy your house because of them?

Okay first of all DO NOT PANIC.
This Mayan calendar, assuming it's accurate, doesn't talk about the actual end of the world.
The Mayan calendar goes through cycles, commonly called "Suns". Each of these Suns is a phase in the earth's evolution.
According to the Mayan Calendar the Earth has already undergone several such events and we're still here, alive and well. But changed.
Change is the keyword here.
The Mayans told stories of other Suns that had come to pass and in each story the world was threatened by disaster and human beings had to change in order to cope. For instance, during one Sun the world was overcome by a great flood and the people all turned to birds to escape it.
They're speaking metaphorically, of course. What they really meant is simply that the world is changing, and unless we change with it we may end up going the way of the Dodo.
The Industrial Revolution, the Renaissance era and the events that led us to descend from the treetops for the first time, would all be considered "Suns" in a Mayan's eyes.
As for 2012, there are all kinds of theories about just what sort of change is supposed to occur. The majority of Suns have led to an evolutionary leap of some kind for us, and until now they've all been mental or physical in nature.
Is it so hard to believe that our modern world is changing so rapidy that we must change with it or die?
I believe this next Sun will bring about great change and advancement of the spiritual kind.
You should be excited and curious, not scared.

THE END OF THE WORLD BRINGS THE KINGDOM OF CHRIST JESUS
Matt.24:3 Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? 14; John 18:36; Jesus kingdom comes, because it is not of this world, but his.
#1. The coming of Christ Jesus brings eternity. John 3:16; 17:3; 1Cor.15:22-28; Rev.3:12; The heavenly will be with him at his coming.
#2. The end of this world means we are going to have a new heavens and a new earth. Rev.21:1-5; All is made as new as before Eden.
2Pet. 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 3:4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. 3:5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: 3:6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Isa.65:17; 66:1,22,23; Eze.37:12-14;

Scientifically speaking, the earth is in its infancy. There are millions upon millions of years that this world could yet see. The equation which you must be aware of is one that is of total human control. The world will not simply combust, nor will the sun devour it at no mercy – at least not in about a billion years or so. What is most important is our own effect on this very fragile world; the level at which we wasteful humans are exploiting this planet as it is, will cause certain disaster, famine, and other costly catastrophes. It may not destroy the world outright any time soon, but certainly the world as we know it. If you are truly concerned with preserving this world for your children, or you children’s children, be aware of your impact. Being environmentally friendly is far greater of an concern then the pop-issue it has become. The world will end if we destroy it, and sooner rather then later too – but the otherwise forgiving nature will bounce back and live on into the millions of years, if we are to allow it.

Nobody knows that. Besides, that's the Mayan calendar. Not ours. That calendar applies to the Mayan civilization. Look at it this way. If it is true, then where are the Mayans to back it up? Apparently their calendar is off.

The end of world largely depends on your belief system. What do you believe in?
I wouldn't put too much faith in the Mayan calendar. The classic Mayan civilization has been gone for some time.

The world as it is at this exact moment ends the next moment because it is different - things have been born and died, and so on. And when this planet is barren and the universe has been sucked back into the "center," that is, oblivion, it will only expand again. One of the main things that bothers me about Christianity (and I am a Christian) is that time is not linear, there is no beginning or end to eternity and no absolute dualism that makes "down here" and "up there" completely separate entities. Hinduism embraces this openly, it's a pity that apocalypse is somehow printed upon our religion's collective psyche....

I don't know exactly when ( only God knows ) but I can tell you that we are very near and I can tell you what is going to happen or what is happening right now , not to mention I wouldn't put my faith on the Mayan calendar , which I believed expired on 1999 or something like that

The world will end for you when you die. You could even die long before 2012. Those predictions do not necessarily say the world will end by then though. There are some loopholes even in the predictions. Why be scared? It is going to happen some day anyway.
