I have hundreds of $$$ worth of prescriptions that I can no longer use.
Most are in sealed units and still within expiration dates. I'm sure someone could use them. I just don't know of any place I can donate them to.

Actually, I believe in a few states there are some programs for medication "recycling", but they are very strict about what is accepted & in what condition.

The best thing you could probably do, since giving them to people would technically be against the rules (too bad), you could donate them to an animal shelter. You can donate pretty much any type of meds in any condition (opened or not) to somewhere like the county animal control shelter, and probably also Humane Society type shelters. Animal rescue orgs might also take medication donations.

But I know from experience that shelters will take pretty much anything. From there it's just up to the vets to see if it's something they can use. Lots of people meds are used on animals, esp. dogs. For example, anti-histamines and ant-anxiety drugs (only by vet's orders of course - don't do this at home) are very helpful in shelters, where many pets get a bit under the weather from the stress & from being around other animals, and also they freak out in a strange new place. And of course drugs for cancer and other more serious things are useful too.

If you want to be absolutely sure they can be used before you donate them, check with a local vet as to which meds are useful for animals.

Thanks for being generous enough to consider donating them.

Could you please get in contact with me if you have anti-anxiety medication. I turned 23 and my parents health insurance no longer covers me even though i'm still in college. I work full-time hours, but am not offered health insurance coverage at my current place of employment. I was on both lexapro and effexor, until my health insurance ran up. I currently am unable to afford any medications. Some days are worse than others, I very seldomly have days where I can't leave the house . . . but tend to from time to time. Currently, my self-medicating process has been through the use of alcohol . . . Not very productive, but I don't know how else to deal. If anyone has any other suggestions who may be reading this right now, I'm open to them.

Prescription medication laws are strict in America. Sealed or not, you can't give them to anyone. If you have no use for them anymore throw them out - some even expire after a few years.

What do you have? Anything good? Send 'em my way!! J/K Nope, nobody can have those pills that are prescribed to you, except you. It is a waste, but that's the law, sorry.
