I was raised Christain and I know the Protestant bible pretty well. I want to know what you think it means. I want to know if based on the people who get on here in the religion forum would think I am a Christian. Thank you.

Thank you all for all of your answers. According to some of you, I am a Christian. To others, I once was a Christian but stopped years ago when I stopped accepting Christ death for my sins. Currently, I have a lot of questions and doubts as to what really happened back then, but I can't help feeling that I really need to investigate and find out by doing a lot of research. the suggestion to read the epistles sounds like a good idea. I hadn't thought of that. I must confess, I do not read the bible like I probably should. there are many books. Getting back into it will probably enrich me.

Thanks again.

To be a Christian means to believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, to believe that He was crucified as a sacrifice to pay for our sins, to believe that He rose again. To confess that He is the Son of God and to ask forgiveness for our sins, to repent from our sinful life. Then we are to live our lives in the way He would have us to, to love the Lord our God with all our hearts, all our minds, all our strength and all our souls, and to love our neighbors as ourselves.

Most people seem to be more concerned with following a certain regimen to fit into a 'religion' than they do with being a person of faith. It's like people who go to gyms to look good and tone up in comparison to a champion athlete.

You can call me anything you want. The only thing that will be of any weight will be my faith in Yahushua Ha'Maschiach (Jesus). I can become a good Christian, Catholic, Mormon, Jew or Muslim by doing the will of my church. But to be in the body of Christ I need to practice good faith. The only way to do this is by doing the will of the Father. The bible is His personal Testimony ('Old' and 'New' it's all one Testament) for doing just that.

I can go to church every Sunday, pay tithes, confess to a priest, do great works, and have communion. But the words of Christ are 'spirit'. They give life. Not literal bread and wine.

Jesus answered, "It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’"
Matthew 4:4.

A ChristAIn is a Christian who can't find the "Check Spelling" button.

Seriously though, Christianity is the religion based on "Christ", as the name implies. More specifically, this means Jesus Christ as described in the Gospels. ALL people who identify as Christians have a focus on this. This is the one thing that distinguishes Christianity from other religions in the world.

Now as for the best way of interpreting and living by the Gospels, how many other books you include in the Bible, the emphasis of faith vs. works, how you view other parts of the Bible, etc... well there are hundreds and hundreds of different sects who all think they have the best answers to those types of questions.

Being a Christian means that you know your sin means you can't get to Heaven on your own.
You need the only ever pure person, Jesus.
You know that Jesus is the only reason you can go to Heaven,
and you accept him as your savoir.
You ask forgiveness for your sins.

After that, there are many things Christians SHOULD do,
but you don't have to. Those are the only things
you absolutely must do to be a Christian.

Primarily, a Christian is a true and loyal follower of Christ. To qualify, you must get to know Who He really is and what He stands for. This comes by a thorough knowledge of His Word (the Bible). Then, you must acknowledge Him as Lord of your life and accept His Sacrifice for your sins. You must, of course, also establish a consistent relationship with Him, which comes through prayer, and allow the Holy Spirit to transform your character to reflect the character of Christ.

A true Christian is a person who has put his or her faith and trust in the person of Jesus Christ and fact that He died on the cross as payment for sins and rose again on the third day to obtain victory over death and to give eternal life to all who believe in Him. John 1:12 tells us: “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.” A true Christian is indeed a child of God, a part of God’s true family, and one who has been given new life in Christ. The mark of a true Christian is love for others and obedience to God’s Word (1 John 2:4; 1 John 2:10).

You realize that your life is death oriented (conviction), that you are born with a curse. Then you realize that something needs to offer you hope away from that death (revelation). Then you realize that you can't save yourself and that there is a Way through repentance (salvation), and you know that your only life is His life, the source of all life (faith). And being a Christian is discovering and living that Way by laying down and crucifying the things that don't fall in line with it.

Actually, it's not you that makes the realization possible, but something that reveals itself to a willing soul, and that willingness invites the strength and power and all the other gifts that allow one to lead a life worthy of salvation.

A Christian is a person who has accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour, and Guide of their life and actions. A Christian also accepts Jesus' forgiveness through His sacrifice on the Cross and resurrection.

In response to this sacrifice, forgiveness and salvation, a Christian lives in such a way as to try to glorify God in their actions, thoughts and words.

Everything else is packaging.

A Christian is a follower of Christ, but keep in mind that not all people you meet in your life will be followers of Christ.

You will meet backbiters and haters of Christ.

Your kindness will be taken for weakness and your soft heart leads to a sore butt.

I met my wife in Church. She was a former porn star. She changed her life around and found Jesus Christ, but guess what...when some members of the Church found out where she really came from they turned their backs on her and that's when I stepped in and took her away from that Church of hipocrites and they called themselves Christians.
I rest my case.

The basic definition is to be a follower of Jesus Christ. It's trying to live your life in a way that's pleasing to Him & recognizing that He and He alone is the Savior.
