and ear infections? Do all cats do that??

I check their ears everyday and they are clean, not a speck anywhere! I check their fur for fleas and none, they are also indoor cats.

My cat's all do that. Be sure to check the ears to see if there is a lot of black-brown debris there.

Earmites can do a lot of damage, causing infections, etc. if not treated in a timely fashion.

Being indoor cats does nothing to protect against fleas. Fleas can walk through open doors and jump in windows you know - and they do, looking for a meal.

Cats can still scratch and shake their heads very occasionally. I'd wonder if I saw this every day though - and if I saw it more than once a day, I'd be going to a vet to find out what the problem is, or at least flea treating.

Are you SURE your cat doesn't have fleas - i.e have you been examining her skin for flea dirts? You don't always see live fleas unless the infestation is bad - and if your cat is sensitive to fleas, she only needs a couple to cause her a problem. Comb her with a flea comb and look for flea DIRTS on the comb (flea poos that is). They look like black specks.

Sometimes they do that because of the way the hair in the ears are, or due to neurological problems.

Are you positive that the cat has neither of those, mites can be hard to see. I would suggest taking your cat to a vet if you haven't already.

cats always scratch. if you think about humans are itch themselves a lot of the time too. Sometimes they have mites other times they just get a tingle and need to scratch at it. i would check really really well to make sure you dont see any flea dirt in there fur (little black specs of poop)

My cat is ALWAYS scratching at her ears like something is wrong and I've given her meds and taken her to the vet and there is nothing wrong with her. In my personal opinion (and I could be wrong) I think she just enjoys the way it feels.
