Searched the old questions and none quite answered my question, so here goes.

Has anyone recently used an installation CD to install BT Broadband on Windows Vista?

I recently acquired (won!) a PC with Vista. I've had broadband with BT for about a year, so tried to use the original disc to install on new PC. No luck. On the installation, the first item is installing the Broadband Help and it doesn't complete it. I've phoned a BT helpline numerous times with a different answer each time. At the moment I have to wait 5-6 working days for a new disc. Will it work?

I've tried connecting to the internet by just clicking on the IE button, but no luck.

One person told me to download the files I needed, despite being informed that I needed the file in order to actually get online. (no offence to the person below who suggested the same thing)

I'm trying to connect via USB as the sole ethernet port on my router is being used by another computer (due to the USB cable not reaching, grrrr). One person told me flat out that Vista would not work with USB. Someone today said it would. Just getting very P.O.'d with my nice, shiny new chess partner.

Thanks for the info so far.

it should work no problem, and the disk should not keep taking 5 days as frustrating as it is.

Phone Techincal help and ask for manager, insist. THEY will get you one out and talk you through it once you recieve disk, the manager has to take ownership and to be honst the process does work. They will probably be based in India and they are very helpful. They will keep you calling you back once youregister complaint officially.

REMEBER TO INSIST ON A MANAGER, AS THEY WILL TRY TO TAKE OVER, BUT JUST SAY NO !!!!!

VISTA DOES WORK WITH BROADBAND, I HAVE IT AND IT IS FINE AND HAS BEEN SINCE DAY ONE - ABOUT SIX MONTHS AGO. IT IS FRUSTRATING AT GETTING DIFFERENT RESPONSES THOUGH !!!!!!!!!!

Make sure you use vista drivers not any other types of window drivers. You old install disk might not have come with windows vista drivers on the cd. Go to this link http://www.btyahoo.com/drivers and download vista drivers. The drivers are only needed if you are connecting your broadband through usb. No drivers are needed from your broadband if you are using earthnet card. You didn't say how you are connecting usb or earthnet.

Literally yesterday. I rang up BT. The CD is not compatible at all with Vista and they are still developing one that works. You can still use broadband without the CD -just click on internet explorer.
Hope this helps.

I have Vista with a broadband connection but i did have the right istalation disc and did'nt have any proablem what so ever. Who is your broadband provider? Contact them and ask them if they have any drivers online to help get you connected without haveing to wait for a disc in the mail.
All your repairmen would have a disc handy so it would be worth a call to you internet service provider.
